Super7 may be your only option stateside. I know at one time they imported some.
The name of the game really is knowing BEFORE the toy is released. Like all the Cocobat Cyborg style medicom dolls and such. Back in the day, we all used to fork over big moey every month for mags like Hobby Japan (and many others). We stumbled thru it and when we saw an upcoming show exclusive, we would fax or telephone our Japanese toy dealer friends and get them to start working out a plan of attack. That used to be the only way you could obtain the toys which are only sold for 24 hours.
Now you can just keep checking back on the website. They list all the items coming up, however with all the Flash Animation popular in Japan, you cannot use tranlator programs and may not be able to translate everything in time for the show. It certainly has held me back a few times when all I have is a JPEG of text in Japanese.
These days though, with Yahoo Japan, the toys float around in limbo a bit longer. You just may have to pay an extra $30-$40 to Buy It Now and you are done with it. There are all sorts of hurdles to have fun with - if you enjoy a challenge. If you don't, there are other things to have fun with: I know a few people who pride themselves on obtaining the rarest items, for the lowest price. It can happen. Sometimes you get things for a song, sometimes you pay a bit more. It all balances out in the end. You will develop your own strategy you like to run with.

The best advice Guy gave me was that you have to figure out what you wanna spend on a toy and go from there. If you want it bad, you may have to pay extra bucks for it, but then you also are more likely to find it. If you're patient, you can find it cheaper.
Now if Charactics would make a cyborg and a non-costumed walder, i'd be very happy.
