yesterday morning i got up early for some reason so passed the time with some tv. There was a show called super monkey team on and the bad guy was a full on walder tribute. He was called skeleton king and had a purple body and entrails.

What a f**ked up name for a show! Definitely walder inspired! Was it a japanese show? What was his schtick? Did he eat feces?

It's actually "Super Robot Monkey Team Hyper Force Go!". It's a kid's adventure shows that borrows alot from popular Japanese 'sentai' culture (Kid hero, giant robot that can separate into vehicles, 5 color-coded heroes (monkeys))
It's shown on Jetix (on ABC Family and Toon Disney)here in the US.
There are toys currently available (I've seen 'em at Target, TRU, and WalMart). I think there's a skeleton king, but no giant robot.

i think i might try and find one of those... it'll likely cost a fraction of what a walder would!!!

Yeah, but in my case at least it would offer a fraction of the satisfaction and interest of a walder!

i just ran down to toys r us and picked one up... big time tribute (or ripoff?) to walder. i will post pics tomorrow.
totally a fraction of the satisfaction of getting a walder, but also satisfying because it's the first time in a long time i've been able to buy something at toys r us.

Ok, here we go. Now, i could be wrong, but i always thought that dokuro king translates into skeleton king, which is coincidentally the name of the supermonkey bad guy. The more i look at it, the more i am conflicted. Is it a tribute or is it a ripoff? comparison: Dokuro King: Skeleton King:

Well you do know in the asian workd, there is a very fine line between "Rip off" and "Tribute".
After all my digging and emailing Takara and associated offenders (with no replies) to ask about this sort of stuff. I actually had to BUY the Microman walder SUBFORMS so see that they were officially Liscensed.
Now this is clearly not a liscensed Cyborg toy, but it certainly looks like a great tribute item to me.
If you want to get real nutty, it even has the Initials on the belt Just like Shonen Saiborg.
Great pix man!

Man, that guy looks funny! Basically, walders are real, and this is the cartoon version of a walder...
Dokuro means skull I think, not skeleton.

It is in fact a tribute. Actually one of the members of the Micropolis Embassy Yahoo Group was involved in the production and shared some of the concept art there for this series, which is totally inspired by anime and Japanese toys of the 60's-70's. If you sign in there, you can check it out...

It is very much a tribute to Waldar. I've spoken with one of the people who works on the show. He said the creative team was very influenced by Japanese toys, manga, live action shows, anime, etc. and it definitely shows in the, er, show.
And yes Dokuru King means, I believe, Skull King.
