IM in uk rightnow and seen action man 'no face' in the stores, im not sure if this is in USA as GI joe but hes basically a zombie like clothed guy with seperate cyborg like flesh head and another bandaged mummy like mask, rather cool and they even have split in back like vintage henshin and of course these are 12" ish figures, ah so maye not in USA GI joe are all small scale now??

Don't know anything about this either way, but the genius rapper Kool Keith has a funny song called "No Face". Kool Keith is often alot like a little kid pretending to be different characters, and here he is no face "I got no f**kin' face!"

hahah that was the most left field, yet relevant thing i've seen for months!!!

I saw Kool Keith a year or so back and it was the worst experience ever. I 've never seen a performer try so little to do a good show.

Back to topic though... I haven't seen this guy in canada, at least... are you going to pick him up?

yes, i got one, really just for the masks, king walder will look cool (or silly) with the bandages on, the flesh head has a hole at the back which exposes the skin of the zombie, looks more like brains due to the purple and grey pattern.

But back to Kool Keith - man I've also seen him suck in concert . He is *the* best rapper ever in my opinion, but for about 5 years he's been atrocious. Completey lost his mind, bitter, angry, jealous. But apparetnly he just released two excellent albums again. Can't wait to check 'em out. Eveyone else you really should get First Come First Served (where he pretends to be a serial killer cannibal on welfare) Sex Style, and Black Elvis.

he played here in Edmonton to about 40 people (who i think ALL got in for free) to a dat played by a 'dj' who was also his 'awww yeah!' guy. In between songs he had a pile of painfully old porno mags that he would open and show to the audience... Near the end of the set, he was like 'ok so who's the girl that's gonna come up on stage and show their titties?' Since there was 4 girls in the crowd (one being my girlfriend and two being my friends who came along) there were no takers.

His set lasted about 25 minutes. Thank god.

It's amazing how he does have skills but lately he's been phoning it in, as they say.

An awesome back catalog though.

I was hoping someone would one day get to discussing Modern Action Man toys.

I love these things, just wish they were more popular so I could find them easier.

Looking for the Modern Action Man sort of brings back painful memories of searching for Cyborg toys. You kinda have to BE in England to collect the modern stuff, because like the Vintage Denys Fisher Cyborg, the modern Action Man toys don't get a lot of respect from the toy dealers.
When a toyline is not deemed VALUABLE, then there is not a huge amount of crazed fan sites and without that, nobody knows what the toys are so they don't get listed for auction.

In the Beginning, Modern Action Man was Imported to a VERY small extent in the USA, however the toyline ended up being
one of those expensive things you would see at Comic Shows.
For a time the AM toys were actually being released in the USA, however the toyline never received the full blown release it had over in Europe.
Eventually in the USA, AM was marketed more towards children and crashed and burned by the time ACTION MAN X-TREME began. The USA only saw a Fraction of the toys everyone is familiar with in Europe. I am constantly amazed by all the color variations, adventure sets and figures produced.

In Europe the toyline is still going strong.
The massive 1/6 scale vehicles for this toyline are just AMAZING!
The USA never went in that direction, choosing instead to focus mainly on the figures.

Each year the characters have continued to MUTATE.

From 1994 through 1996, The Action Man toyline was pretty much what you would expect. Starting out using the rubbery Hall Of Fame Body.


It started as a modern version of the old toyline with GI JOE and Action man taking turns stealing innovations from each other.

Initially the toyline, like GI JOE, just continually reusing the same body and accessories, just molding in different colors and utilizing different heads.

By 1997 the French were creating their own exclusive Action Man Cartoon Characters of Natalie

and Knuck


Both with completely ORIGINAL bodies.

Over the last 9 years Action man has continued to evolve.
The Bodies of the figures have consistently grown ever more alien and unusual.

A character such as Professor Gangrene started out looking like a Nemesis of Strawberry Shortcake and ended up
looking like something out of the Ghost Busters.





Although he started out as a bald version of GI JOE HOF figure Major Bludd,
Dr. X has been through many personality changes:




Action Man got a (non posable) CYBORG DOG sidekick


New characters were added

Tempest


NO FACE




The toyline is just HUGE with too many items to list.
Some of the Greatest toys I never had.

I didn’t realise that the current Action Man here in the UK has no GI Joe counterpart in the USA. My son loves Action Man, but to my disappointment, he likes the spin off comic and the CGI video more than the actual figures. He has a few figures, my favourite being the Prof. Gangrene with the head that spins round and changes expression, but he just doesn’t play with them like I used to play with my Action Men. I would have loved a No Face, in fact I did my own custom disfiguring. I also didn’t realise that Action Man was in France now. When I was a kid, Beeg Jeem was the French equivalent of Action Man.

those are all pretty interesting. the only Action Men I've seen in canada were one on a mountain bike and then another with a blow guy and camo face paint. Both of which were not very cool at all.

Yeah I know what you mean. They were very conservative about releasing it in the USA as well.

Only the stuff which looked only vaguely different than Gi Joe.

I want to post more info on this but pulling it all together is taking forever.

Nobody knows the names of anything, so it is like trying to find a specific needle in a haystack of needles.

You pretty much have to sift through an endless list of Loose Lots.

All going for .99 pence.

It is not unusual for the seller to state how many Kg the lots weigh.

They are THAT HUGE.

I opened my action man no face. For me the attraction of this toy are the 2 masks and the cool rain/trench coat. Definite possibilities with cyborg as you can see. the bandage mask just goes on henshin but for KW they and the flesh mask are a bit small. They are made of very soft rubber? which is excellent, really looks like something from a 70's sci fi show when you are removing the masks. The very cool thing is the no face zombie head details are mirrored inside the masks. also the split halves at the back of the masks are fastened with velcro.

To be honest the actual no face to is a bit naff looking but well made.

action man's had a bit of time on the shelves in the US, around 1996-2002? 2003?

i remember seeing these guys all the time in KBToys and local department stores.

if you look around (try K-Marts, or look in poorer cities or towns for discount stores) you should be able to get them for under $5 each, still. There's a Rite Aid by me which has about 2-3 of these guys at $5 a pop, the Dr X guy with robot arm on a card like our new friend NO FACE.

i wouldn't hold much hope for AM in the Us, with the auctions Guy mentioned above, plus 12" getting phased out at US retail pretty much.
