I was just wondering if anyone here could provide any info on Takara's Machine Saurer. I can't seem to find much of anything on them, so any help would be appreciated. How many figures are in the line? How rare are they? And what kind of price I should be looking at for them. Thanks!!! ;D

The Machine Saurer seems to be one of those anachronistic Takara products that doesn't really fit anywhere - although he was part of the Magnemo/Diaclone lines somehow...
As such, technically, all the Diaclones are part of the same genre, as are the Magnemos, but again, none of them bear any resemblance to him at all.
They are not hugely rare, but they are scarce - and I believe there are a couple of color variations. Prices seem to range from $175 to around $300 - and I've never seen a loose one for sale!

Thanks for the info! The line does seem a bit out of place, but does remind me of a cross between two of my faves .... Micronauts and Godzilla. A bit wonky, but right up my alley. ;D Do you know if there are there different sizes? I scored this one on eBay, and it was described as about 3 3/4". I'm thinking it will fit well with my 4" chogokins or even my Micronauts. ..but I've also seen the following pics online and it looks more like a 6 " Magnemo size, like a Red Falcon or Baron Karza. diaclones.com/gallery.php?mode=view&album=Related+Stuff%2FMachine+Saurer&pic=20051115071.jpg&dispsize=800&start=0The one I won did come with a catalog though, so maybe that will shed some light on this for me...when I get it

Hey - nice score! I've never seen a small size one before... And you're dead right. The 'normal' one is about 7", and sort of fits with Micronauts - if you can stretch the mythology to include a robotic Dinosaur of course...

How many figures are in the line? How rare are they? And what kind of price I should be looking at for them. Thanks!!! ;D Sorry to chime in so late on this, but you touched on a subject that I really love. Here is a slightly out-of-date pic of the Machine Saurer corner of my Magnemo Series shelf... They first came out in 1979, but as noted there was a Diaclone version (the blue one on the right) that came along a few years later. There are 3 small Saurers (non-magnetic) and 2 of the large (green) ones - the more common one has the white head, and there's a rarer version with a red head. The small ones each come with different accessories to make Earth (brown), Sky (blue) and Marine (green) Saurers. The bad guy of the series is Death Cross, the elfish looking guy over on the right side of the picture. There was only 1 version of the large Death Cross, but 3 small ones - and these were magnetic! Death cross has been reproduced as part of the original Micronauts line (Red Falcon) and also about a zillian knockoffs and such - but just the large version. The small ones have never been reproduced, at least not to my knowledge. As for price, the small Saurers show up on eBay and Yahoo Japan every once in a while, and I think they usually fetch about $200-275. The large ones don't show up as much, but they usually go for about the same price, maybe a little higher. Death Cross mini's are a little harder to come by, and they can go for as little as $150 or over $300! Prices vary a lot for these toys, depending on the time of year and of course, depending on condition too. Hope this helps, even though it's 4 months late. Anyone who has questions about Microman and other Takara stuff from this era (pre-Diaclone/Transformers), please toss them my way. I love talking about this stuff! - Tom V.

You forgot this one: The official "Takara no Punch Kick" punching bag Machine Saurer. And hey, I guess this is my first post here. I was just looking through your topic on the character while researching the inflatable fella here. I had no idea there were so many variations of the larger scale toy, and I've never seen the smaller scale 'Saurer. Neat!

Nice info. And knew Tom would chime in. As far as punching bag toys go, I really wish they were more common nowadays. They're simple and cool.

Hi, I realize this is an old thread but I wanted to ask if there is any die-cast/metal in the large Machine Saurer or if it is all plastic construction. Thanks!
