Hey, Welcome! As for the GX-05R, if you don't have the original this is just as good. Technically there are no changes but the colour is a little more pleasing in my opinion. Plus right now there going for dirt cheap prices on Ebay with resonable shipping rates. As for the toy itself it has a ton of accesories and is a solid chunk of diecast, but this toy is really about Daiku Maryu and not Gaiking so expect this toy to focus on him.

Banddai opted to go for Daikumaryu (dragon thingie), instead of Gaiking. That would explain why the Gaiking Robot is sooo small.

Then again it was the first SOC I bought, so no competition and I actually found the little Gaiking cool, a nod to the Chogokin line.

i have both the GX 05 and GX 05R. i kind of like my GX 05 better because of the better fix in all the connections and joints.
