But without? Yeah - he's comparable to a typical SOC (Evangelions don't count as "typical"). Ben-Ohki Oh, I think Mazinkaiser is far more poseable than ANY of the SR's (except GX-07) from the SOC line. **Note, when I say SR don't include the EVA's because I don't consider them Super Robots. ;D ;D ;D

Well, thought I'd give this thread a sense of closure... [ftp]http://img45.exs.cx/img45/6117/evablk02.jpg[/ftp] [ftp]http://img45.exs.cx/img45/3515/evachr01.jpg[/ftp] [ftp]http://img45.exs.cx/img45/4764/evachr03.jpg[/ftp] [ftp]http://img45.exs.cx/img45/4485/evachr02.jpg[/ftp] [ftp]http://img45.exs.cx/img45/4968/evachr05.jpg[/ftp] [ftp]http://img45.exs.cx/img45/6845/evachr07.jpg[/ftp] I actually did a side by side comparison at the store counter (the shop owner really liked that...not! ) and in the end the EVAs happy snarling faces won me over. They were more poseable, came with many more accessories, and also because I reasoned that two heads were better than one helped me pick them. Mazinkaiser was cool too, I'm sure it would have added a lot of depth to my collection, but it was 'just' the regular edition, not any Black Wing or Kawai version. Also, looking at the box up close and holding it gave me a reality check; for that amount, I may as well keep saving and upgrade to a GX-04 down the road. But now I want to get the other four EVAs too! I'm impressed with these guys (or gals?). As you can see from the pics, they are very poseable and can even stand on one foot in a running position! Very very happy with my purchase this time, no regrets at all and thinking 'maybe I should have bought the other one' instead. To those who don't collect EVAs, or who just aren't interested, I think you're missing out, they are a LOT of fun! I just love them! Very diecasty, good weight to them and very jointed. I got them to do lots of stylish poses. Black EVA came with more weapons, and Chrome EVA is borrowing almost exclusively from Black EVA's melee weapons for the pics. As for the figures themselves, I was a tad bit disappointed that they're identical other than colour. I understand though that the other EVAs have slightly more different looks to each of them. Another weak point is with the base that comes with the toy. They don't hold the figures too well or secure the weapons as nicely as the stands for other Super Robots ones. I actually was disappointed with the stand, seeing how well they had done stands for other SoCs. The stands also cannot hold everything (no pegs for extra hands or the extra shoulder armour). The sign, although not a sticker, also don't identify the type of EVA, or its name, and just generically says "SoC Evangelion." Minor gripes aside, you've got to pick up the Chrome EVA at least. I liked the Chrome EVA more (shiny!), but wish it had all the melee weapons (spear and axe) that came with Black EVA. Both had bazookas, but I noticed Black EVA's was an inch longer than Chrome EVAs, so that was neat too. Chrome EVA also came with the huge and oh-so-cool positron cannon. Cool gimmicks include having a sheath hidden in the shoulder armor for the progressive knife and the pallet submachine gun which fits into a little suitcase and the little suitcase can fit onto the shoulder! The mouth also opens and closes and the toy comes with three pilot pods that go into the back of the neck. Press the button and PEEEEOW! the pod goes flying across the room like a missile! Very tight spring + very light pod missile = reason they give you three pods 'cos you can easily lose them! The way it's designed leads me to suspect that all the EVAs have these gimmicks. I think the reason to collect them all is because they just look so darn cool, and not because they're really unique from one another. I'll definitely be getting the Purple EVA 01 when it gets reissued and will see about the others later on.

Glad your happy with your purchase, but your right about those two being the same except for colours. Now you can get the resty of the Eva's since there not to bad in price, especially with GX-14 being re-released you can have the whole Eva army. Also if any of you guys are unhappy with the weapons that came with the Eva's, you can use the ones from the Bandai models (although there slightly bigger than the SOC's).

I have the black one.
It won me over the silver one because of the little angel available to possess the EVA.
I love the idea of having "bad guy" socs too.
The next one I will pick up (wonder when though) is the yellow. The Sniper rifle plus shield combination is too much for me.

Actually, I was a bit disappointed overall with the yellow one. Sure, there's a sniper rifle and shield, but it didn't come with shoulder armor and therefore no knife. It couldn't even carry the pallet rifle on its shoulder. With the little tanks built on the sniper rifle, it's meant to be displayed lying down, but it doesn't look that great as the Eva can't look straight up to look down the gun. Still, it can be had for relatively cheaper than its other brothers, that's the main thing going for it. I'd pick up the Chrome or Purple EVA here. In the anime, the purple EVA goes one on one with the black EVA.

Not sure if this has been covered before but what is the size difference between the Yujin plastic Mazinkaiser and the Aoshima one? Is there any?

Hrmm...I actually have the Yujin one already and was wondering if getting the Aoshima one was that much different size-wise to warrant the 100+ it's going for. My Yujin MK is pretty solid, has no problems with the joints and i have had him in various poses without him tipping over or anything. My version is the one with the wings btw so I don't know if they might have upped the QC on that version. j*ryu I unfortunately have the Yujin one, so i Can telll you that: It is awfull, terrible, disgusting. They have probably improved it, because mine is the wingless version.

I have seen the Yujin ones and I own the Aoshima Mazinkaiser, there is no comparisson between the two. Aoshima will total beat the crap out of the Yujin one. The diecast content alone is enough to knock someone out with in the Aoshima version.

Correct me if I'm wrong guys but if memory serves me correct I think they are about the same. The Aoshima one seems just a notch bit taller.
