gx-01r, what does it do?

I've another question regarding this wonderful figure... Does it do anything? I mean, does it fire its fists or something?

Ask Chen, or better yet look at the other threads in this section. It will tell you what the difference is between the gx-01 and gx-01r. I myself just got my gx-01r today (already have the gx-01) and there is a considerable difference. The way Chen put it is the gx-01 is the Mazinger Z of the first half of the story and the gx-01r is the Mazinger z of the 2nd half of the saga, the version with the major improvements, as you will see in the toys.

The face of the renewal version is based specifically off of the opening- the gx-01's face on the other hand looks like it could come out of any number of the actual episodes. Just a little bit of extra info.

GX-01R is a more cleaned up and realized version of Mazinger from later in the series and his apearence in the last 3-4 episodes of Great Mazinger (less squinty eyed), plus it fixed some quality problems with GX-01. As for features it has a firing missile from his stomach, firing fists (Rocket Punch, Iron Cutter), another set of forearms that rotate up to show where his Drill missiles fire from, and his wings are moveable. He's a great figure!

Thanks dme3o, GX-01R is probably the best version you can get of him with all the features and accesories. Although the Daigokin Mazinger is still king interms of sheer mass and price.......damn you andrewdsz I'm so jealous .

If there's one SoC that really shines, it's GX-01R. Short of being a combiner, he does everything right. As mentioned, he no only looks good to begin with, but he's got a ton of accessories, and everything's displayable on the base (if you want - I personally don't have room for the bases in my glass cabinet). And he's got features lifted right from the show like spring-loaded gimmicks and the scrander wings that actually pivot up and down.

I'm sure you'll like it when you get him. And on top of all that, he's VERY collector-friendly. There are no sticker-sheets, and none of the pieces are on sprues, so he stays mint forever! Everything just goes back into the plastic trays and Maz goes into his styrofoam coffin.
