My gx-24 T28 JUST ARRIVED! And I can safely say that I am happy with this purchase. First thing that I liked is the packaging. It looks like Bandai finally got off from the 2 piece styrofoam packaging. This baby was packaged in a one piece styrofoam bed which contains the T28 on the left and the accessories on the right side. The diecast content is very impressive as well. I wish they made him a bit larger though I knew from the getgo that he won't be but I'm still happy. Nicely detailed as well and I like the lighting eyes gimmick. For those who have not acquired this fabulous piece go get one. A classic at a great price!

Congrats on the acquisition man! As much as I like Tetsujin 28, the SOC version is waaaaay too small. I was hoping it was somehow the same size as the Yamato Giant Robo. Stayed away from it. I'll probably get one along the road, but not right now.

Thanks Omni, I understand what you mean but it still a great piece regardless. I hope they make a bigger one later on. Or perhaps I will pick up a bigger one made by someone else.
Chen, I left my new toy here at work last night so I wasnt able to take pics. I will try to take some tonight and post later.

YW!
I'll either get the one by Marmit, or just wait till someone decides to sell their T28.

I got my SOC T28 last week as well. I have yet to remove it from te box, I only checked to see if all pieces were intact. I fooled my wife that it would be one of my christmas Gifts so I have to wait until the end of December. Well, at least I got away with it, right?

LOL! Good for you Lanman! Sounds like we're back on the hiding from spouse thread here. Lol! Yeah I have yet to show the wife as well but since my birthday is coming up this month it will be ok. My next dilema now is getting a new display case that I can really use. The one i'm using now is just a bookcase with glass doors.

Personally, I can wait until they release an SOC version of the 90's Tetsujin 28/Gigantor. But this one does look cool.

i really like this new SOC GX-24! the paint and details are top notched compared to other Tetsujins.. the only thing i wasn't happy about this Tetsujin is that it doesn't come with the plastic red flames shooting from his backpack! Here are photos i posted before at the message board of my website greattoys.net Potbelly Mano a Mano a ManoGX-24 Soul of Chogokin Tetsujin 28 RUBBER PELLETS TO COVER UP THE SCREW HOLES! Nice comparison!
While I like the overall look & design of the SOC the best, the Soft Garage one has a very interesting look, mainly due to its bulky but comical looking proportion. Really like those big round arms it got. Too bad never get a chance to get myself one, and I'm content enough with just having my SOC T-28.
Really did work really hard to repair my relationship with my T-28 though, as I got one with a number of defects. Very disappointed with the loose right hip, uneven elbow, off centered right eye, paint chips...etc. But finally got them all fixed except the eye. Now, I can start to like this guy all over again. ;D

Is there any way you can return your GX-24 (Tetsujin 28) from your supplier? I had a frustrating experience trying to purchase the GX-24.
I was impatient when the GX-24 was released in Taipei, so I went to the first toyshop here that offered it for a reasonable price. I asked for one in a nice box. I gave up after seeing three boxes. I noticed that all the boxes had been previously opened; the original Japanese sticky Scotch tape was severed and retaped.
I kind of knew that I was pushing my luck and might offend the toyshop owner, but still dared to ask if I could open the box to examine its contents. The owner said, "Pay first!"
I paid and soon, after the money was in the cash register, was allowed to examine the box's contents. Much to my dismay, I discovered that the Tetsujin 28 had a paint defect on the right side of the upper head. It was something I thought I could live with if I used Tamiya Rubbing/Polishing Compound to somehow fix the defect. On the other hand, I thought to myself, "Why fix it when I paid hard earned cash for it? I'm entitled to a replacement, right?"
Well, that wasn't the toyshop owner's idea. His assistant told me it was my problem. If I wanted it replaced, I should call Bandai's Taiwan distributor and let them handle the matter. It was her attitude that pissed me off and my girlfriend.
My girlfriend was really pissed off. She raised her voice and asked what reason was there for us customers to be treated in this manner. The owner asked us if any other toyshop would let us inspect the product. Well, I said there were a few toyshops that did. Anyway, my girlfriend was in the verge of causing a commotion in the toyshop. In the end, the toyshop owner didn't want to argue with us any longer, lest we scare away the rest of his customers. He returned my money and told us to go to some other toy shop. I've never returned to this shop since.
Now I have my GX-24 Tetsujin 28 that I bought from another toyshop. It was about 8 USD cheaper and came in a mint box.
Geez! The trouble that Chogokin addicts have to go through.
Good luck with your Tetsujin 28.
