Is it true that SOC toys are quite available in Asia? Who has extra stock, Hong Kong, Japan, China, or Here in the US the toys have been selling well. See, the USD is weak and it is a buyers paradise. Ed

I disagree admin dude, a buyer's paradise is when the USD is strong against the yen... Right now, it's not really a buyer's paradise in the US, due to fact that the USD is so weak... the cost of shipping incurred plus the fact that it costs more to buy from international vendors because the dollar is so weak is reason for US retailers to mark their stocks up. So basically it would cost you about the same or slightly more as buying from the JP e-tailers like HLJ or Amenbo or the ebay route from HK or SG sellers.
I think SOCs are selling well because people are willing to pay for a hot item because it is (one of the best if not) the best toy line out there and the hype has spread through out.

I have a feeling the evas had a large part in the increased popularity of SOCs in the US. Out of all of the eva fans that got eva SOCs and loved them, a decent number surely must have been tempted by the lure of the same level of quality in the other SOCs, (seen in the manual or online) even if they are of robots not known to them. Dancougar probably helped too to a degree, because it has the mass and animal robots and giant sword that drew in fans of the old voltron.

I go back and forth looking at e-bay prices from Hong Kong or US vendors, and checking BBTS, and Image Anime. As you know, the shipping cost from Hong Kong usually wipes out most of the price break you get on the toy. When I weigh saving five or ten dollars against waiting out international shipping and dealing with a vendor thousands of miles away, I'd just as soon spend a little extra and give the trade to Joel over at Big Bad Toy Store. There's another consideration:I don't mind spending an extra buck or two if it means buying the item at an actual store (imagine that!) where I can have the thing in my hands the moment I fork over the cash. It may be bad for you Americans, but us Canadians are living the high life. With the American dollar so low were getting the best deals ever on Ebay. Also it depends how quick you want your items, Asia for sure gets everything first and you will have to waite a few weeks for the stock to arrive to America. But as for prices, items from Asia are cheaper but have higher shipping while items in the States are more expencive but if you live in the States shipping is next to nothing.
