I'm contemplating about purchasing either a GX-13 or GX-13R. Anyway, I heard that GX-13 Dancougar's chrome plated sword tarnishes over time. I know that most SOC have paint problems. Chrome plating is the most difficult to remedy. Anyway, does anyone have any remedy for this problem or should I not sweat about it because all chrome plated parts tarnish over time?

I've heard that too, mine is still perfectly shiny but it could depend on where you live. Humid, salty air seems to tarnish chrome faster. If you live near the coast, you could always keep it in a zip-lock bag and keep it in your fridge or at least a cool dry place.

Glad you brought it up roboto, I was wondering about this just the other day. I sure hope mine won't tarnish. I was going to post the same question about tarnishing on unpainted diecast parts, like GX-01R's, GX-02R's, and so on's thighs and upper arms. Do parts like that have trouble with tarnishing as well?

The oldest SOC I have is GX-04 and after almost five years the chrome parts are almost like new. But I do dust and use a little car wax on the chrome parts to keep the polish up. You don't have to use wax or anything, but I do it just so I don't scratch the chrome.

The chrome should stay shiny with a little care. Do not leave fingerprints on the sword!!!! The oil form the skin will definitely tarnish it, take it from one who knows!!!

Do NOT EVER touch the chrome part by ur hand for any chances. When i was handling chrome SOCs, i always with my cotton gloves on, especially GX-22.

Wait... that's interesting. roboto's talking about a chrome-plated sword... I'm guessing this is one of those plastic pieces with a chrome surface? andrewdsz is talking about chrome finish on die-cast... should they both be treated the same way? I've never given much thought to plastic-chromes figureing they'll yellow or whatever over time but I'm looking at my Mazinger Angel editions now and thinking: "hmm... mayhaps I should swab them down with a damp micro-fibre..." I'm pretty sure I've probably left fingerprints on them whether I notice them or not...
