SOC Forum Members:
I just purchased a GX-18 Getter Dragon yesterday. Anyway, I don't really have a huge problem with my GX-18. I've come to expect some minor quality problems with every SOC purchase. However, I want to ask fellow SOC Forum members if they have the following similar situations with their GX-18:
(1) The GX-18's forearms are difficult to attach to the biceps. They aren't as loose as the forearm-bicep connection on the GX-01R or other SOCs with similar arm attachments. Basically, the arm connection on my GX-18 is tight.
(2) The underside of the extra Getter Eagle has scratches. I remedied this problem using Tamiya Rubbing / Polishing Compound (Finish Grade) to smooth out the rough, scratched surface. The rest of the Getter Eagle is fine. My guess is that someone in the factory or assembly line was playing with the Getter Eagle and enacting some kind of emergency crash landing scenario.
Those are the only problems I have with my GX-18. Are there any more things I should watch out for with my GX-18? I noticed that the head-neck attachment looks fragile. I wouldn't want to deattach the head from the neck again. Plastic usually becomes brittle over time, and I'm afraid the ball and socket attachment could snap.
Anyway, I really like this SOC. I hope to buy GX-19 Getter Liger and GX-20 Getter Poseidon to complete my collection.

Mine didn't have any issues at all (Nor did my Liger or Poseidon) In fact it was my first SOC and the one I was going to use to decide how "into" the line I was going to get...thankfully my SOC's have been almost completely trouble free.

Mine is pretty much perfect too. In fact the only problem i had was the loose attachment of right fist. however it is really not a problem, i fixed it easily.
Getter dragon IMO is one of the best quality SOCs bandai made, it shouldnt have that much of problems.

Mine has the same problem of an insanely tight forearm connection. Be careful not to break the forearm. This is one reason I don't like the Dragon as much as the Mazingers; it's just too much of a pain changing the arm poses. I do like the wild poses it can do when attached to the stand though.

I have the tight forearm problem too, I worry if I try to swivel his arm I might snap the plastic. Also his neck is prone to scratches on mine. Everything else is perfect though.

The only problem I had with the Getter G stuff was Poseidon. I had the usual hip issue that a lot of people were having. I kind of figured out that it required a lot more force than usual to join the hips to the waist, then it stays put.

Thank you all for responding to my questions about the GX-18. I really find fellow SOC forum members' insights and information very helpful, especially before and after purchasing another SOC. I can check what quality problems to expect with a particular SOC model and whether the problem is associated with the entire product line.
I noticed that Robot Japan already lists some of the quality problems in product reviews of other SOC models. Maybe it's a good idea for someone to list all the problems associated with every SOC.

I have similar socket attachment problems with my GX-18 and 19. They are attached but not as easily as my Mazningers. My GX-19 socket is so tight that the lower arm attachments easily pops out. The figures are awesome though and the GX-20 is one of my favorite all time SOC so far.

Never had any probs with me gx-18 either. The one issue I had just like the others is putting Poseidon together. Took me a good hour trying because I was worried I might break it.

No problems whatsoever with my liger or poseidon. I've been extra careful with the neck piece on the Dragon so no paint chips, but I guess I'd have to sand the forearms if I wanted to loosen the connection, and I'm not willing to do that. All around I like them in the order of Poseidon>Liger>Dragon. The proportions are the main reason I like the Dragon least though, not the arm issue.

I also have the same problem with the tight forearm. At first, I thought I'm going to break it if I want to attach the arm. Luckily, it didn't happen. After that, I try not to take it apart

Gx-20 really need tremendous amount of strenght to be able to put together. Luckily, I am a body builder hehehe. But seriously, it is really hard to assemble, and you have to be careful, or you might accidentally drop it which I know any of you would like to avoid this unfortunate event.

no problems with mine. Just I dont like the red plastic. I notice that it is a little transluscent. Or is it just me? When holding against the light, the red fades a little. I would prefer to have a plastic that does not have those properties.

My brother bought it a few months ago, and it was perfect. He had problems with the GX-20.

I think posideon was the one I had to use foce to put together! I was so nervous in shoving it in.. but ever since.. its much easier to pop in.. and it holds firmly on.
