I bought a GX-05R Daiku Maryu 2 weeks ago. At first, I only took out and assembled the tiny Gaiking and put it inside my glass display case. It wasn't until last night that I finally assembled the Daiku Maryu.
Dang! The Daiku Maryu is impressive. Anyway, I've seen its pictures and the actual toy displayed in local toy shops, but I postponed buying it for so long thinking that it was just a piece of plastic. It wasn't until I heard about the upcoming GX-27 Gaiking that I decided to purchase the GX-05R, lest prices get out of hand. Now I think the GX-05R is really a must-buy item. With its heavy diecast content, you can do serious damage if you toss that thing at someone or something.
As fellow SOC forum members mentioned, Daiku Maryu's horns are really difficult to attach. I've attached them temporarily until I finally decide the best solution. I glued the end of one horn on a small piece of plastic and then put that through the hole on Daiku Maryu's head. I then glued the other end of the other horn. Both horns are loose but at least they're always pointing at each other. I used a mild Japanese model glue called Pro-Use Glue. Some model kit builders use it to glue clear plastic canopies of model airplanes. It doesn't damage the plastic like most model glue does. As I said, it's just a temporary solution. I was thinking of doing something similar later on, but drilling a hole on the horns and then using a small metal rod instead of plastic. This is probably too much hassle, or should I just do what everyone has probably done, which is file the small piece on both horns to make them fit in the holes on Daiku Maryu's head?
As for GX-13R Dancouga, I just picked it up this afternoon and quickly assembled it. I am most happy with this purchase. I couldn't help laughing in delight at seeing the thing in my room. ;D It's just too awesome. Now I want to get the original GX-13. It'll be cool to pose them together. I've got to pace myself. I've made four major SOC purchases in less than a month and they're not Mazinger Angels.
[andrewz- You're right! GX-13R is worth it.] ;D
Man, I'm way overdue for pics in this forum of my recent booty.
