I have done a lot of online purchasing but it seems like someone would have these figures on the shelf to look at (drool over) in person. Anyone know of some good shops to hit up locally in the Bay Area? I know about Heroes Club, Kimono My House and Super7. All great shops with their own special offering, but limited when searching for SOCs. Thanks in advance!

Check out Hobby Unlimited in Burlingame on Broadway. Nice place with SOC's, 12" figs, models, and Airsoft. You can somewhat make deals with them but they are pretty shrewd in their business practices. I was there when they got a shipment of SOC's in and they told me they indeed have a shipment in, but they can't sell it yet because the owner would have to determine pricing. I waited for an hour and I watched as they "determined pricing". They logged into eBay found the highest price added shipping and added an additonal 5-10%. I really didn't want to bother haggling, so I just took it face value since I was frustrated from waiting. I paid $250 for GX-21 and GX-22 and for a few misc 12" accessories. I paid cash so they were "nice" enough not to charge me tax. But they do carry by far the best selection when it comes to SOC's. The owner displays his own collection at the store and if you can convince him to sell them to you, he would sell it for 10% off the usual price. They also resell on eBay.

I just discoverd Cards and Comics Central on 5424 Geary when I was in SF last month. Not a huge selection of SOC's but pretty good. A couple of stores down is Yes Anime--smaller SOC collection.

I've been to Hobby Unlimited, it's not that bad and they do have a somewhat good selection.

I wouldn't buy SOC at Hobby Unlimited. Mainly because of their high price. I only go there to get some cheap trade figures or whatever on a big sale occasionally. They just charged way too much for anything else, just a bit less than the ridiculous Heroes Club in S.F. Only buy from there when you really have no other choice or have to get something right away.

Appreciate all the replies! mpchi, good point about Heroes Club. They are really high on some stuff. Sometimes I see something there at a regular price. It is still so nice to walk into one of these stores! Takes me right back to my childhood and the trips to the city to Chinatown and Japan Center. I loved those trips. Always could talk Mom into at least one piece of diecast love to take home! Ah memories... My favorite shop is still Kimono My House in Emeryville. If you haven't been there, you should check it out.

KMH is cool, especially if Yuki is at the store, he would never let me leave without a prize! Usually a gasha or two, lol He knows his stuff, especially when it comes to the vintage stuff. He is also little on the high side, somewhat strange hours and oh those stairs...lots of them. (the shop is on the roof.)
