I've rarely seem this, but the price of Gaiking after shipping is well over 100 everywhere in the internet including ebay. Plus it is selling so quick that some famous websides such as IMAGE ANIME was already sold out of it at the price 125$ before shipping!!
I've really no idea why this toy is so hot. Yes it is one of the best chogokin toys we've seem so far, but im really not willing to pay over 100$ for an 8800yen price toy, especially it just came out like 20 days ago. I've pre-ordered 2 from a US webside but im afraid that i couldnt get it because of its popularity and huge demand.
How u guys think? How much u guys think it is really worth?

There is a big difference in price between japanese distributed and hk and Taiwan distributed. Generally, collectors over even in Taiwan and HK collect Japanese distributed despite the fact that there is no visually difference other than the bear sticker. I paid 96 dollars for the japanese version. If Taiwan or HK version, it is about list at 84.00. No, I dont think we need to overpay over $100 as this is not a limited version and I will never pay too far off list. I suggest waiting it out to see sellers accumulate more stock. Eventually, someone will be desparate enough to sell it for cheaper....

Imageanime is typically very overpriced.
I got mine for $97 shipped from Japan, so deals are out there if you look hard enough.

I really do wish the SoC was priced more... competitively. The Gaiking is nearly $90, which the Masterpiece Optimus Prime, a much larger *and* transforming diecast robot retails for about $100 in Japan. The price of these guys is really what prevents a college kid like me from collecting the line. Something like Gaiking I'd buy if it was in the $50-60 range.

What is Gaiking worth? Gaiking is worth the sun, the moon, and the stars. Gaiking is worth your first-born child. Gaiking is worth everything you've ever worked for, saved for, and hoped for.... Well, maybe I'm over stating it just a little. Mine comes tomorrow via UPS. Yipeee! Gaiking is worth a hundred bucks, if that includes shipping. Unfortunately, you'll probably pay more. JWM

Can anyone gage the production numbers on this toy? Will it be made in big quantities or a more limited release like Getta Liger?

Im not sure about that but i will assume no matter how many they produce(reasonable number), it will run out quickly and goes the same way as the previous mazinger/grendizer path before their reissue.
And im 100% positive sure that this Gaiking WILL have re-issue in the future,at one point.

I think Gaiking's a little expensive. If you're switching it between its modes all the time it would be different, but otherwise it has the same issue as FIXes- you're paying for 2 forms but can only display 1. Still, I guess the cost makes sense relative to the GX-01R and GX-02R. At current prices though, it's more like the cost of a GX-01R and a kikaijuu together, and I'd much rather have that. (already do though, so it's not like it was a choice of one or the other) Also, back when I got my Getter Set, it was $130, and lots of Gaikings now are going for about that. I'd say people should wait for a reissue or hope some online stores will be selling extra ones from Diamond. If Bandai does do a yellow belly repaint, (I don't think they will, but if) it probably will have fewer QC issues. I think they have more trouble with metallic paint jobs like that of this Gaiking and the Daikuumaryuu.
Now, the upcoming Xabungle SOC looks like it will be an awesome deal for the price.

I am sitting here with mine - brand new out of the box. It was $114.00 (USD) from Big Bad Toy store. Given the huge amount of extra goodies that come with this set, it was well worth it. All I've done so far was assemble it in standard mode, and put the base together. I have another project going right now that takes precedence over Gaiking, but later on I'll go through the other modes, heads, hands etc. Of course, whatever is newest on the shelf always gets most favored status, but still this is without a doubt the BEST. SOC. EVER. (And if all goes well, I'll have a goodie for all of you guys by tomorrow morning.) JWM

Just put Gaiking in powered-up mode for the first time. Holy crap, Gaiking is huge in this mode! I've got it next to my Getter set and he's taller than the Getter 1 even though Getter 1 is on its stand and Gaiking's standing on the shelf! The large feet and added weight do seem to improve its balance too, but man, that leg armor comes loose ridiculously easy. I had a heck of a time changing heads. Eventually just separated the whole skull piece and switched heads on it apart from the rest of the body. I've smacked the skull's upper and lower teeth together enough now though that I've already got some minor paint damage, but nothing nearly as bad as the huge sprue scars that are on the lower teeth right from the start. Anyway, putting it in this mode, I for the first time am able to feel like maybe Gaiking *is* worth the full yen cost. Still like Daikuumaryuu better though. Man, Bandai really needs to do a SOP set of the little dinosaur robots, in scale with this big Gaiking.
