Finally found the name of the robot from one of the previous threads here. Apparently this will be a new upcoming Chogokin around Sept? This has the same concept as the Getter series, as 3 ships combine to form one huge robot. Here's the pic below. They seem extremely detailed, but then again, most robots look better unpainted. Hopefully the finished painted product won't dissapoint. Any comments?

I've never seen this robot before.
It looks complicated. Anyway, is this part of Bandai's SOC series? It says "Chogokin", but I don't see the Kanji for Chogokin Tamashi (Soul of Chogokin).

I'm not familiar with the series, but the toys look pretty sweet. The combined robot looks pretty big too, judging by the size of the thing compared to the guy's hands.

Bizio, Great pix!!! Yea...Aquarion does look pretty huge! The Prototype version reminds me of Armored Core robots for some reason, but The space ship form looks pretty cool. BBTS has this on pre-order for $224. u.s. This looks pretty sweet, but i think if i was going to spend over $200 on a SOC, i'd get Dancougar =)

Oooh, looking more closely at the combined form's legs, the thigh area looks pretty skinny and looks like it may have some problems standing. Hmmm....

I've been watching the Anime and the names of the robots are Lunar, Solar, and I think Mars but I can't remember. The shows pretty good and the toys are suppose to be plastic and diecast. The Yen price is 19,800 or the same price as GX-04S.

SWEET!!!! Looks to be perfect Gattai! But between this and the GX-04S, I'll be taking Grendy thank you! ... but I may get it after reading some reviews.

I like the robot designs and ship designs. However I bet the die-cast content is going to be like most GD Chogokins I've encountered, low die-cast content with a high and dominating percent of ABS and/or PVC plastic. Anyway the designs still look cool and there should be a good balance between die-cast and plastic to prevent the DX-A from toppling over.

Is it just me...or do these robots look better in Spaceship mode?... The individual robot modes are okay, but the combined ones are iffy to say the least....

OK...finally watched the 1st episode of Holy Genesis Aquarion. Not to bad, it still has to sink in. But this is very similar to Getter Robo, in the fact that there are 3 ships..and can combine into 3 different Robot types.

Initially I was a fan of this Aquarion stuff, but the size and transformation remind me of the Escaflowne figure (which is the ONE figure I own that I thought was a waste of money). The Escaflowne uses a good amount of diecast, but the joints are flimsy and the cape is a bear to stay on. I would have to 'play' with these Aquarion figures before I commit to a purchase.

I agree with you 100% Mazinkaiser about the Escaflowne. Biggest let down I have had with a diecast toy. I absolutely hate the cape.
As I am very unfamiliar with Aquarion I am going to have to wait and see on this one. The pictures of it make it very enticing. However I will need to see a few reviews before I commit to buying one.

The thing that kind of scared me was looking at how the Aquarion transforms into the plane mode, the feet go together like the Escaflowne to form the front of the plane, or in Guymelfes case the tail. I dunno, I am just not getting the warm fuzzies about this Aquarion stuff. I hope I am wrong but at the same time I hope I am right

Going OT on the Escaflowne: Actually I thought the figure was pretty cool looking, and I was tempted to get it. What's wrong with the toy?
And having asked that, I'd comment that the Escaflowne movie was awful. Easily the worst anime I've ever seen. Too bad I never saw it for rent at Blockbuster or Hollywood video. I ended up buying it. Waste. Of. Money.
I'd agree on this Aquarion thing. The individual modules look pretty cool in the ship mode, but I don't like all the stuff hanging off the robots' shoulders. I get a sense of a ridiculously difficult gattai resulting in a tippy, floppy figure that you'd better not breathe on once it's on the shelf. It's odd too that it doesn't have a number designated to it. BBTS just has it listed as GX Aquarion. JWM

It's funny, but when I originally saw the designs way back when for Aqaurion, I was like: "Holy crap! Those suck donkey balls!" But when I see the toy mode...I gurgle. It's like an 80s-tastic modern mech, with three crazy robot modes and three really ugly vehicle modes. BUT...man, for 200 bucks I'd much rather get that, a (supposedly) 12" tall triple-combining-transforming robot then one of the best-lookin' SOCs, Zambot. I'm keeping my fingers crossed though, because I really hope they don't make the joints too weak, or too much diecast (weight is a problem in such a complicated design). Personally, if it didn't have ANY diecast I wouldn't be complaining, since the toy's paintjob is beautiful.
OT: whatever you do, do not buy the Escaflowne toy. Although a kickass design, every mode is floppy and horrific. And even if somebody pays YOU to buy it, tell them to buy you a six-pack instead. That toy is just that bad.
