It was suppose to come out in mid November and be called Robotech: Shodow Chronicles or something.

Oh? The last I heard of it, it was supposed to come out back in January to coincide with the final issue of the Wildstorm comic mini-series "Prelude to the Shadow Chronicles."
We know it's done because Harmony Gold released the OVA (pilot?) to film festivals around the world. If you believe the hype posted at robotech.com, then it was supposedly a great success and well-received... however, why has the DVD release been delayed? Nobody seems to know. Hmm....

it was receieved well, but one should note it was aired pretty much at very obscure film festivals, and it was more often than not the only animation in the festival.
an ex-coworker saw it at a foreign film festival (dont remember the name of the festival, it was in june? july? and he was not an anime or Robotech fan) where it was listed as a Korean release(??) and he said it was pretty cool but didnt make much sense.

Well, aside from Tatsunoko, a Korean company called DR Movie is also credited for the animation work. This has apparently led to the film being deemed eligible to be part of Korean film festivals.

...So Justice League Unlimited could also be shown in a Korean film festival. And the Simpsons...
No, I can understand HG manipulating the festival circuit to play the big fish in the small pond (they need to). They've been floating around stagnant for so long I doubt any bigger festivals would want to take a chance on a cult franchise like this. I agree with the guy at that unofficial blog site - it's getting kind of unexciting as we've been waiting so damn long.

Bump! You guys reading that blog posted above? The official Shadow Chronicles site has posted a Behind-the-scenes look at the production of this OVA feature.... www.theshadowchronicles.com/trailer.php?id=minidoc1I must humbly admit that after seeing the new footage in the clip I'm getting excited for this (especially since we're only a month away from release now).

It would depend on the degree of their partiicpation in the creative process, I guess. I understand that animation studios in Korea employed for the Simpsons and JLU are just cheap labor for the show's producers. Not sure if this is the case for Shadow Chronicles vis-a-vis DR Movie.

I think a large push for this movie will be playing to the nostalgia crowd. So yeah, if you don't know the Robotech series to begin with, then skip it. I will probably get it because I did like the old show despite its short-comings. From time to time, I even pop in one of the old Robotech DVDs and watch a couple of episodes... Hmm... this certainly reminds me, I'll need to rewatch the final episodes again too because apparently the new movie is partly a remake of the series ending...

February 6 remains the correct release date... smaller companies (like anime companies) have a tendency to let it slide while bigger movie companies (like Disney or whoever) will not. It all has to do with tying into their marketting plans, etc... Some on-line retailers will ship it a few days early and assume a couple of days in transit so that the buyer receives something on the date of release... this situation however... is way beyong ridiculous tho (and highly unfair to those customers who are buying from companies who didn't ship early).

I think all companies should release it on that same date, this way Everyone can get their lion's share of the new dvd. As for the "bad" reviews: the best review is One's Own Personal Experience. I'll bet half the foos who badly reviewed it didn't even watch the movie nor the trailers, nor even kept up with the Robotech series... I hardly ever watched the series; but I want to enjoy any and all fascination I can get from this once I see it. I'll wait for its release. zozo-Magengar

I saw this in the theatre here in boston. The reviews are spot-on. While it was cool to see Robotech again, it just isn't a good movie. Bad CG, Bad dialogue, convoluted story.
