There's no sign of it on the Canadian web-stores for Best Buy or Futureshop, but my local Futureshop did indeed have it. And although the sticker was $32, it actually registered $25.
Anyway, just watched it. It didn't suck - anybody who says that is overreacting. I predict that this will be the new Episode 1: The Phantom Menace. Your first gut feeling is "wow! Robotech! It's been so long and I missed you so much!" Then you sit back and think about it after you finished watching it. And a few days later after the excitement settles, you realize, "hey wait, it wasn't really that great, in fact, some of it wasn't so good." And then a few more years down the line, like a Jar Jar Binks, you'll start to hate it less and less and eventually just say "oh let's just ride with it, it was fun anyway."

Ben, dude, I still hate Jar Jar! So you're saying it will eventually go away?

Ben, dude, I still hate Jar Jar! So you're saying it will eventually go away? I'm saying the little things that bug you in Shadow Chronicles will eventually just be "little things that bug you" and nothing more. You can't let Jar Jar ruin the entire movie for you because Phantom Menace did have some fun stuff in it to watch. I mean it had Darth Maul for cryin' out loud - that's got to count for something!

He does... and they're retconned his character a bit.
The movie sadly does not answer a major plot question we've had for a long time (unless you read the Prelude to SC comic from last year)... where was Admiral Hunter and the REF all this time? The movie answers why he didn't make it back to Earth for the final assault (SDF3 was under attack elsewhere) but for the most part, the story centres around Vince Grant and Scott Bernard.
I never did buy the shocking change in character for Rick. Granted 40 years can change people, but I never liked the idea that our hero became a ruthless warlord who'd order the Neutron-S missle strike against the Invid-occupied Earth... In this movie, Hunter's REF team has discovered that missiles are uncontrollably dangerous and were trying to return to Earth in time to rescind those orders...

Wait if I remember the book correctly doesn't "admiral" Hunter get lost in space while attempting a spacefold?
Yeah, Maul was cool, too bad he was short lived, I think he was a greater fighter than Dooku, Vader, and Grievous...

The books sort of diverged into their own continuity. There were actually a few conflicts in what the books said and later on, it seems the book you're thinking of "The End of the Circle" has been pretty much ruled non-canon at this point. End of the Circle was book 18 and included lots of crazy stuff from the Sentinels series of books. If you play fast and loose with the plot lines, then yes, you still get a pretty rough idea of the current version of the continuity: Hunter and several 1st generation characters travelled on the SDF3 looking to find Tirol, homeworld of the Robotech Masters. They do encounter the Sentinels freedom-fighters and the Invid and the also find the mysterious Haydonites... Several brand new characters are introduced (like JANICE the android) but other than that, there's not much else kept in current continuity as presented by RTSC. Which is too bad because I have a softspot for Robotech 2 The Sentinels (anybody remember that movie? it was the one made from the 4 completed episodes of the failed sequel series). There was some really good stuff in that and it seemed like they were going to follow up on more of the books' plots like showing life on Tirol after the Masters left, Rem and his buddy Cabal, new characters like Jack Baker and Karen Penn... oh well.
