I'm not sure if Leopaldon is the first toku robot... But i think it is safe to assume that Battle Fever Robo is the first SOC tokusatsu robot... ;D quote] Actually Leopardon is NOT the first Tokusatsu robot, but the first robot w/ a Tokusatsu hero piloting it. Battle Fever is the first Sentai robo.

This Japanese Spiderman TV show was the first collaboration between Toei and Marvel Entertainment Group. I remember seeing spiderman with one of the Masked Riders in several stickers when I was growing up. Did they really team up on the spiderman show? The costume of spiderman here is a lot similar to the spiderman TV show in the US. Wonder if it's made by the same company...

Buffy, Yes, Toei Spiderman did team up with Masked Rider V-3 in an episode. Re: the suit... Good eye! You are correct. In the late 70's Marvel licensed their characters to Toei in exchange for them to do the same for us. Thus the "Shogun Warriors" were born. At that time, production was also underway for the Spider-Man TV show in the US. The company that produced the main suit for the US was Eaves Brooks in NY. They produced the pattern for the Marvel "appearance/tour" suits in the late 70's and 80's and also provided patterns for the US/ TV show. When Marvel lent TOEI the rights, they also lent them a sample. The Japanese "Spiderman" suit is taken off the US suit and that is why they look similar. Although the Japanese suit was made entirely in Japan. I have an original Eaves Brooks and made this replica suit as a "backup" of my suit. Dme3o replica Spidey: Toei Spidey: Marvel Spidey USA: USA Spidey TV: Hope you found this informative end entertaining!

Japanese Spiderman suit looks a lot like the B movies in the 70's , 80's...I think the recent offerings of movies paints Parker (albeit, I can't stand Tobey Mcguire and Yuck for Kirsten Dunst, isn't Mary Jane so suppose to be pretty? I think I read that somewhere, yeah) much better to date. Spidey, save of the "raised" webbing can be left little to be desired, but it is somewhat reminisce of The Amazing Web head. C-spot as Spidey...now that's a thread in itself! LOL Just kidding Spidey, put the slingers away! Wait, does Leopardon come with a spidey figure? If he does, put me down for two! RE: Garbage... There you go again, Dricks, gone and got all controversial and what not. As a 1st amendment advocate, yes please feel free to express as you please, but remember: with freedom also comes responsibility and accountability. So when people jump on you for making your comment don't be surprise. They also have equal rights of expression! But I ain't mad at cha. At least you are participating, but I would take heed to some of the comments, you may not want to be quick to prejudge this one, I almost made the mistake as you did and was about to write off GX-30 Battle Fever J and boy, was I wrong about that toy. I'm glad I got him anyway and I was pleasantly surprised. A very knowledgeable, kind, helpful and oh strikingly good looking member did a review on GX-30 a few months back, it is worth a look. LOL

LOL hahaha!!! i'm not bothered at all about you guys jumping on my "negative" statements. i am a big fan of giant mechas, but i never said that i like "every single" one of them. i'm just saying... as a customer, we should all be kept at the edge of our seats.... they should do a survey on what they should manufacture first, then produce the desired product. i mean, a lot of us have already begun signing multiple petitions for a Daimos robot. i mean to tell you the truth, that's how businesses run these days because they listen to what we want/need. anyway, just excuse me on my comments... whether you guys like it or not, well, i guess i just have a different taste when it comes to these things... just like when it comes to buying clothes... let's just say, i'm very picky.. but nice input and it's good to have someone like you to have an open mind unlike some of those who immediately jumped and attacked me for my comments... but i really don't care what people say... anyway, have a nice 4th of july weekend bro!!!

It's not even a matter of tastes but markets, the SOC line still has the Japanese market as it's primary target and the Sentai line is still very popular in Japan with a very long history. So to North Americans some of the choices they make are a little off to us but in most cases make perfect sense in Japan. I just say wait till the final product comes out and there are some decent reviews about it before you decide.

ok trivia time- supaida-man's robot- LEOPARDON (1978) -The first series to have a superhero (as opposed to a costumed pilot) ride a giant robot. -The success of this series led to the revival of the Sentai Series as the "Super Sentai Series". The Marvel/Toei deal contributed to the making of Battle Fever J (1979), which was not only the first Super Sentai Series, but essentially a Japanese version of Captain America. -Producers originally wanted to make a series faithful to the famous web-slinger's origins, but Bandai, one of the sponsors, told the studio to add a giant robot. and the producers met their demand with complete incredulity, and they reluctantly rewrote Spidey's origins completely for the show. supaida-man's bot kick started super sentai hehe
