Hey everybody, How's it going, I hope well. I figured I make a topic of this if nobody minded(if so, my apogolizes),but Out of All The SOC Combiners(Combattler V, Dancouga, Zambot 3, Voltes V, and Gunbuster)and one masterpiece(Voltron), Which of these Discast figures do you think is the most durable and the most favorite of yours. I personally like Combattler V alot for it's Durablily and studiness, but Voltes 5 better for the Poseabiltiy. What do you guys think?

Well I think that as far as durabilty is concerned, Voltes is probably the most solid and durable. As it is solid and not rickety or top heavy. The joints are stiff and holds poses well. As far as my favorite, that would by Masterpiece Voltron because as I have stated before this is the only robot that I used ti love as a child and now to see it in this awesome form is a dream come true!

Yea I like the Masterpiece Voltron too, It stands in front of all of my figures on my shelf. I have some pics of my masterpiece voltron doing poses and all if you would like to see them. Anybody else has a favorite?

out of all those... i would have to say voltron masterpiece is the more durable... that is in terms of not breaking apart easily... i mean you can toss it on a mattress and it would not break apart. if you do that with voltes and dancouga (which i have an issue with, though i love this robot), you wouldn't be able to toss them without breaking apart... the SOC's are very delicate because they are not meant to be played by children... though, if you want to display them, then the SOC line are the best when it comes to placing them in displayed position because they are meant to be "displayed". i don't know... that's just me..

Standing next to an egg with arms and legs, I've always admired the Tetsujin28 SOC to be quite durable... ...after all, he's just an egg with arms and legs! *^__^*

Aren't the connecting pegs pretty fragile, though? I'm interested in buying the Voltron, but heard that the connecting joints are plastic and tend to get stressed easily by all the weight. Anybody else want to weigh in on this?

the shoulder connectors for the voltron are a bit jinky, but overall it is an awesome toy. Very nice finish, good poseability and it weighs a ton! it's also a good inch taller than SOC dancougar
if you're looking for something solid, and it doesn't necessarily have to be a SOC, I'd go with the black gao king or black gouraisempujin set...

Anybody else want to weigh in on this? the connecting pegs aren't fragile at all... they're actually very tight and stubborn. it's designed that way, i think, in order to support/secure the heavy-lion arms of voltron and to maintain balance.

Voltes V.....for the combiners.....Mazinger Z for the coolness!!! you're right about Voltes V... but Mazinger Z??? How about Mazinkaiser??? That robot is sick! and not to mention, he's got the most toughest enemies and very challenging battles in comparison with the other robot anime's.

Oh yeah? If Mazinkaiser's so "Tough", how come he only lasted seven episodes plus one movie? (Mazinger-Z was just a tuna can, survived 92 plus 11!) Huh? Huh? Hmm? Haaahhh? Huh? (Just kidding, bro... The Kaiser RULEZ!!!) ;D ;D ;D Ya heard it from a Maz fan, zozo-Magengar Voltes V.....for the combiners.....Mazinger Z for the coolness!!! you're right about Voltes V... but Mazinger Z??? i know i know... i wished he would've lasted longer than seven episodes... but you gotta admit... his fight scenes are more challenging... at least he never fought a flying sea bass and a flying skull (Voltes V's enemies, remember? ) Oh yeah? I'd also have to go with Voltron MPC among the choices you've given.
I've recently acquired it over x-mas and its pretty solid in combined form. It is by far more solid and likely more durable than any SOC combiner produced to date. To boot it doesn't skimp on the die-cast content and articulation gimmicks it offers.
How's that for a toynami comeback
Take that Bandai !
or was it merely a fluke?
My fav :
Voltes V for the obvious reason that I'm from the Philippines and I use to live breath and eat the anime when I was 6 years old.
The most unique:
Gunbuster No chogokin or any transforming toy of it was ever made other than the SOC and of course the crapy SHE version which was never really in the same league as the SOC

You guys are still underestimating my buddy Boss Borot. How many episodes was he in huh? He was in almost all of the Mazinger Z episodes. I'm not sure if he was in the Great Mazinger series but he was definitely in the Mazinkaiser series. He has been beat up, decapitated, amputated, etc. but still comes back strong. :-) And he also has more diecast than some of the Soc figures out there. You gotta give him props even if he's not a combiner (well he can probably qualify as a combiner getting dismembered and assembled so many times :-) ). And I gotta say he is probably the most dangerous chogokin in any collection. Reason I say that is he is the only figure with the perfect shape to wrap in a handkerchief or a small towel that you can use to swing and hit someone with (ever watch the scene in Out for Justice..Steven Seagal with the cue ball and the towel?). Now how dangerous is that? Lol! ;D ;D ;D

Well So far Voltron is the top favorite following Voltes, Mazinkaiser, Gunbuster and Boss Borot lol. I think you guys are forgeting Combattler V lol but I have to agree alot with the Voltron as far as the pegs on the arms. I was really worried at first about the arms but now those worrys just left me when i opened the figure and formed voltron. But I am worried about the pieces holding the thighs of the black lion, are those pieces plastic or discast? just curious. Keep your opinions coming if you like fellas

Boss Borot & mazinkaiser are NOT combiners! I don't have Gunbuster or Voltron, but I think the connection in Combattler is more sturdy than Voltes. Voltes wins in poseability!

i don't have gunbuster and i don't have combattler... i'm just not familiar with either of them... voltron is worth it... he's bigger than dancouga and he's cheaper than voltes v... i know voltron's not as complete as the popy version in terms of missiles and other weapons, but he makes up for it with the poseability and design... so i would recommend you getting one. Boss Borot & mazinkaiser are NOT combiners! I don't have Gunbuster or Voltron, but I think the connection in Combattler is more sturdy than Voltes. Voltes wins in poseability!
