Hey guys, those of you who know me know I'm pretty much a SOC collector. But I'm also a Macross fan, been and owns all the reissue chunky Monkeys. Anyway, I'm looking for more realism and less metal so I've picked up two Yam valks and a R- whatever, the suit that Miriya flew in before she got small. I got the 1/60 VF-0s and the VF-1j Strealth fanstasy valk. I want a VF-1S... however, for the very reason I avoided these 3 years ago, I need you guys accumulated knowlege to help me pick out my next toy purchase. I know that with each interation Yam learns how fix problems from the last issue. So my question is which VF-1s? DYRL VF-1S or Fokker VF-1s or is there others? Let me know, as always I appreciate it! TIA

At this point all the 1/48s are the same. The last major improvements were on the Max VF1A when they fixed up nosecone that used to fall off... I'd go your own personal taste.

Okay I'm almost at the moment of breaking myself. I'm on the fence between these three: VF-1S DYRL Strike Valk w/o fastpacks, VF-1S Roy Fokker, VF-1J Hikaru Ichijo. I'm looking at quality, however the VF-1J has those cool hands that can hide those unslightly chicken hands! Let me know what you guys think? BTW, it is only the VF-1J's that come with the extra hands, right?

Personally, the VF-1S Roy Focker is 'THE' valkyrie to own. It's the 'definitive' Macross Valkyrie because it's the only one that did NOT change over the Series and the Movie.
Get the 2nd Edition Focker. You'll know it's the second edition because there's no VELCRO on the front flaps of the box.
If you want asthetics though, particularly the TV hands, go for the TV Valkyries: - VF-1J Hikaru Ichijo - VF-1J Hikaru Ichijo w/ Super Pack - VF-1J Maximilian Jenius w/ Super Pack - VF-1J Milia Fallyna Jenius w/ Super Pack

I'm having the same dilema..which one to choose?? I agree with Omni Existence as I'm now inclined to get the VF-1S Roy Focker (which is also compatible to the super armour & super/strike pack). By the way, what's a "VELCRO" on the front flaps? Any pic will be highly appreciated. Tks

Main Entry: Vel·cro Function: trademark Pronunciation: 'vel-(")krO -- used for a closure consisting of a piece of fabric of small hooks that sticks to a corresponding fabric of small loops

Tell that to the zealots over at macrossworld! They'd be all over you with minutiae about the differences between the two! ;D

Well for me that would be my choice as well the yamato 1/48 2nd production VF-1S Roy F. w/ fast pack set. as the definitive macross Valk as it was piloted by both Hikaru & Roy and besides I remember drooling over a loose bandai 1/55 Roy VF-1S w/ Strike armor at a store window in the early 90's the store wanted $1K for it. Thank God for Yamato 1/48's My 2nd choice would be one of the alternate VF-1's like the Low Visibility or Stealth

Well, 'aside' from the technical aspects of the Valkyrie itself (flight stick, HUD, etc), it's basically the same Valk, and the ONLY Valk that didn't change in physical appearance from Series, to Movie.

Yeap! The Ver. 2.0 of the Roy Focker has all of the issues fixed (like the crooked skull, canopy doesn't stay open, etc). Just make sure the VF-1S Roy Focker box doesn't have velcro on the front flap cover on the box, and you're all set.

If you're concerned with the chicken hands there's a member at the macross world forums named nightmareb4macross, I think he is a member here as well, that makes recasts. He can make either the "mickey mouse hands" or the gbp styled hands. I have bought recast hands from him before and he does great work. He also sold me a pair of recast knees for my 1/35 gakken alphas. I am currently waiting on the gbp styled 1/48 hands plus the gbp side covers for my other 1/48 valks. I highly recommend going to him if the "chicken hands" bother you.

ok, so here's another 1/48 VF-1S question:
i've got a VF-1J Hikaru TV version. I want to get JUST TV versions of 1/48 scale valks.
is there a Fokker which comes with the TV Pilot? At MW it looks like that's the only version available. I liked DYRL but i'm more about the TV show... so this is big deal for me...
