Wow!
That's a huge box! Looks like DA is even taller than Ideon! Looks like it's definitely a good purchase!

Could you leave the arms on in satellizer mode? Is it was the old DX version was doing?

Thanks for the reviews, guys! I'm excited to get mine, but now I'm wondering if I'll have to claim a whole extra seat on the bus for that damn box!

Funfact-Danguard Ace creator Leiji Matsumoto (of the Captain Harlock, Galaxy Railways fame), was rumored to have hated this particular creation with a vegence. According to the story, Leiji Matsumoto never intended the series to have a super robot, it was the networks that "worked" the Danguard Ace robot into the show, as "super robots" were the guaranteed hit at the time. Supposedly, Leiji still treats Danguard as the unwanted love child until this day. Funfact 2-Danguard didn't appear until the 13th episode in the series (making the story more character driven) Wow, impressive review. Thanks to you & SuperAnimeRobot for the great pics. Just thought I'd add something to your funfact: Earlier this year I bought a collected edition of Leiji Matsumoto's Danguard Ace manga, and Danguard does not appear at all in the entire series until the last page, after the story and action have already ended, just standing in a field. Talk about unwanted!

Wow! That's a huge box! Looks like DA is even taller than Ideon! Looks like it's definitely a good purchase! Well, seeing as DA is shorter than Iron Gear, who is shorter (barely) than Ideon, I'd say not quite. Sounds like he is a nice and big fella though. I wont be picking one up though. The design is very simple and big expanses of featureless plastic or metal aren't that appealing to me. The tiny head, too, is a real deal breaker. Maybe I'll have to pick up a few more CM's gokins instead

This is not doing it for me. My main problems are the small head, lack of details, and no firing gimmicks, which is should defenitely have. It more like a statue than a toy.

^^ totally Agree with Calibre, can't stand that head, the hands are much bigger than the head.. could've been better.

i also agree with calibre and deadman.. dunno why the yamato dangaurd ace still hasn't grown on me eversince the first prototype was showned... dunno if it is just me but.. the shoulders are too big offset with the head which is too small IMHO... while the fore arms were a liitle bit small which is un even for it's biceps.. as what calibre said.. it pretty simple that lacks detail... but that is just me... hope this bot will grown on me before it disappear in the market... is it possible for bandai to make danguard ace in the soul of chogokin line?

I also agree with calibre, deadman, and 45caliber ;D Its still a nice toy, and the weight is sounding very attractive. But the small head, lack of mechanism, not very thought out transformation still leave a lot of room for improvement. But the metallic version does have its charm to make me consider. Though I picked Gakeen over it instead.
SOC making Danguard Ace is totally possible. Just not sure how many years we'll have to wait, especially after Yamato made theirs. While Danguard Ace is not among the highest profile robot shows, its still a popular one. And Bandai has covered most of the top runners, so very soon will be the turn for the other bots to show up in the line-up.

I can understand why some of you might not like Yamato's way of doing SR's, but for a lot of fans, this Dangard Ace toy is a godsend... regardless of the voodoo-shrunk head, and the lack of spring loaded-firning gimmicks.

Thanks guys. Could you leave the arms on in satellizer mode? Is it was the old DX version was doing? You can leave them on, but then it wouldn't look "show accurate". The old Popy DX toy also involved "ejecting" the arms. Not that this will make the toy any more appealing to those who don't like the design, but didn't Danguard have a disproportionately small head in the animation? I've never watched it so I may be totally wrong, but I thought he had a tiny head.

Firing fists might be a nice gimmick, but I never use it on my figures.

Really don't know why Yamato went for the freakishly small head...stylizing maybe? Whatever it is, it was one cause of the turn off that a lot of people had with the toy. ;D

I just watched episode 13 of Danguard Ace, which is the first episode were the actual robot fights, and to answer the head size question, the head was in fact drawn too BIG!!! It look retarded! Yamato's Danguard Ace head is perfectly fine and closely resembles the look of the robot as it appears in the epic sunset shots at the end of the episodes. Don't take my word for it, watch the episode yourselves.
