Bandai has come a long way since their release of the GX-01 in 1997!!! Their engineering is awesome, even for the "not-as-complex" humanoid figures like the ones above...

Seems like they developed a double jointed elbow kinda like Aoshima's and a new knee and ankle joints. Could a GX-01RR be on the way....groan.

I like all that metal, and look at that articulation! This is going to be a great toy. I wonder if the hips will have similar articulation to the first T28. Since it's not highlighted in that photo I would guess no, but I liked that weird mechanism it had so I'd like to see it again.

The double jointed has been used on the SOC EVA knees and elbow, I believe. This time, the double jointed has been applied on the Super type Robot.

Ah more eye candy to keep me occupied until they are released.
Thanks Bizzio!
Looks like the both of them will be solid entries into the SOC line.

Hmm, what happened to the jointed "toes"? It was on the prototype. I wonder what made the Bandai engineers change their minds. Production cost maybe?

In my experience, every heavy metal toy I've owned that has had "toe" articulation has suffered as a result, being a lot more likely to faceplant as the toe joint couldn't take the weight. Toes are a neat idea, but I've rarely found them useable, especially in diecast figs.

Yeah, I can do without the toe joints. Ambitious idea, but in the end it's probably for the best. And looking at that blueprint I think I see how they planned for a full range of hip articulation. Looks like the joint slides down to give the hips more clearance and range. Similar to the first T28 but it looks a little better.

Yeah besides the Eva's, Getter Liger has double jointed knees and even the Maz girls have a form of it. But it's nice to see Bandai go back and just make a "basic" SOC. I love the complex ones like Daimos and Godmarz but I equally love the no frills SOC's that are just "honest" and "simple".

Yeah I agree, it works good in plastic toys where the joints are stiff enough to carry the weight of the figure but a figure with diecast just doesn't have the right balance to pull it of ala GX-24. Plus it wouldn't really have added to the poseability because it already had double jointed knees and high ankle movement.

Hmm, what happened to the jointed "toes"? It was on the prototype. Does anyone think Bandai might release it with alternate feet? One set jointed plastic, one set made of solid metal?

As long as they don't come out like the jointed feet for GUNBUSTER, which totally suck... I think it will look just fine with the solid ones, just like the Mazingers... ;D }D

This figure is looking great! That's a heck of a lot of diecast. I'll definitely have to pick one up sometime down the road, but I'll probably skip the set. I'm really not digging the Black Ox at all.

Bandai could use the new joint to develop a new version Mazinger Z and loot our money!!!

I've always been a fan of the original fatty T28 and haven't been much interested in the slimmer version, but damn if this new SOC isn't making my heart grow. As much as I still love and prefer the original fatty, this thing is looking to be the better toy.
