I always liked anime accurate figures, and these two are perfect! You could even make a stop-action movie with these and it would turn out pretty decent. If I had the equipment, skill, and patience, I would make it myself.
Still, some people like gimmicky transforming figures, even if they do look like crap and nothing like the anime - but no matter, as long as they transform in some way.

And notice I never say non-transforming SOC figures look like crap; I just find them uninteresting because they're not gimmicky enough. Well it's easy to see where your tastes are which is cool. But if you've never owned or played with one of the "standard" SOC's then I think your missing out on something. Sure they don't transform or anything but figures like Mazinger Z or Tetsujin are just plain cool. Hell GX-01R is STILL one of my favorite SOC's and for around $50 bucks you should give it a try. When I run out of things to buy, that's something I might consider. I almost bought one last year but then something more interesting (read: transformable) got in the way. As it is, I have too many expensive transformable toys on my list (Baldios, Danguard Ace, etc.) to consider non-transforming toys. And if I was to get them, they would have to be pretty cheap.

The same argument that makes some solely transforming toy collectors look the same way. What was your last comment on these new SOCs coming out??? Well it was: "it looks like a $10 toy..." If you dislike it so much, then keep it to yourself. No need to go around raining on everyone else's parade.

I like your double standard.

Actually I wished the SOCs came out with more gimmicks such as firing fists, etc. I do not know why they stopped with the firing fists after say GX-27. The original GX-31 could have had firing gimmicks, but now we need to shell out more cash and get the GX-31V that will have the firing gimmicks.
Voltron MP is lame. The lions should fire their heads, but don't, so I am getting Popy version or Matchbox version instead. So much for a masterpiece!
Although I do not care or like transformers. I like how Gunbuster, Dancougar and my favorite...Daimos turned out, but these figures are no match to my favorite SOC: the GX-07 which has all of the great features of a modern robot such as excellent articulation, manga accuracy (Go Nagai's manga), old school feel, massive amounts of diecast and firing fist gimmicks....truly excellent.

Well the whole firing fists thing is because if it's not in the Anime then Bandai won't make up abilities such as firing fists or whatever. Gaiking was the last SOC that had firing fists in the show and so it made it in the toy. GX-31V is a homage to the original toy so it can get away with stuff that wasn't in the show like the tank mode and firing gimmick.
Personally I rather have Anime accuracy and never really saw the attraction of the whole firing fist gimmick. The springs tend to go soft after time and with safety standards today the springs are so weak your lucky if they'll shoot 12inches.

tetsujin, never had weapons i beleive, so its pointless for him to have firing gimicks.

The sculpt and the chrome are pretty spectacular, but it would have been cool if he came with firing fists AND openable cockpits and tiny pilots like that older version of Voltron.

From what I remember the only cockpit with pilots on a Voltron was a LJN all plastic toy...It would have been cool, yes, but watch the anime or read the manga, none of that existed with Tetsujin 28, now the newest version has more of that though, including a sort of transformation...

Have any photos surfaced yet of the GX-44 and GX-44S boxes? The scheduled release was for late November, correct?
