Today I picked up a loose Dairugger XV diecast robot. The one I bought has one thing different than all the other ones I've seen: the "shin guards" do not have openings for missiles. I found a picture of one on this page that's like mine: www.go-boom.com/japanesetoys.htmOn the robot's back it does have the Popy logo, has "Japan", "GB73" and Japanese writing followed by "XV". Here go the questions: Is this version a re-release of the original? Did this version come with a sword? Thanks in advance

This is a popy version released for the US, distributed by matchbox. It does not feature the firing fists, leg missiles or sword.
The popy version is identical in sculpt, but includes 4 fists, missiles, launchers in the legs and a nice sword.

I think I may have picked up the Freak version of the toy. Though mine doesn't have firing leg missiles, it does have firing fists; which is strange because the picture I posted of the non leg firing Dairugger doesn't have the firing fists.

That's weird. Maybe you have an early Matchbox release where they had not fully switched over production. Hmmm.... Does IT have a Popy mark on the back?

My scanner is momentarily out of commission, but it looks just like the picture I posted, except it does have the small yellow pegs on the sides of the arms to shoot off the fists. On the back, it does have the Popy logo, has "Japan", "GB73" and Japanese writing followed by "XV". Mine must have been made before they fully switched over to the bland U.S. version.
