Which are the differences between the three SDF-1?? I own a Bandai one, but I've heard it's the same from Matchbox. I've never seen pictures from a Bandai SDF-1 boxed, just the Takatoku and Matchbox, so I assume that the Bandai and Matchbox are the same. Am I right?? But the Bandai have the Macross logo on the right foot, and the Matchbox SDF-1 was sold on a Robotech box. So, is there three different SDF-1 models or just two (Takatoku and Bandai/Matchbox)?? I am so confuse!!!!

I've never seen a Bandai boxed SDF-1, ever. I think Bandai only issued Macross toys that were retooled or recolored from the Takatoku originals.
My understanding is this - Takatoku made the molds, and when they folded Bandai acquired the molds and rights to produce toys. They retooled several molds and released Strike Valkyrie, Superostrich, Elintseeker, etc but no SDF-1 or destroids. They also created all new toys like the SD Joke Machine valkyries. Bandai then licensed the molds to Matchbox, who could only release the SDF-1, Destroids, and Joke Machines because of US licensing issues with Transformers' Jetfire.
I think it's a safe bet that yours is a Matchbox - are there any missile launching mechanisms? They would be on the 2 carriers, and in opening compartments on the legs. Also, the Matchbox one DOES have Macross stamped on one of the feet.

there are only two kinds. Takatoku and the Matchbox. Matchbox made a deal with Bandai and bandai got the molds from takatoku.

if your toy is stamped on the foot BANDAI MADE IN 1984 then you have a MATCHBOX SDF-1.
My 1st SDF was a "Takatoku" MIB, but really a Matchbox body with the 2 Takatoku launching carriers.
My Favorite Transforming. Robot. Toy. Ever.

and to add...
**ALWAYS** ask the seller to take a picture of the FOOT of the Tak SDF-1; i've personally been sent a matchbox SDF with the arms/hands/whatever of a legit Takatoku, and there was a boot version as well.
there'll be a little "T.T" symbol in a diamond on the foot.

Well I have to correct you on this one my friend there are 4 diferent companies that made this toy : Takatoku, bandai(yes it does exist) , matchbox and the infamous bootleg (that is the clone version of the takatokuone) the only diferences are that the takatoku and the bootleg have a shootin device that is all [glow=red,2,300][/glow]

hmm to a takatoku toy would only have the mark "T.T." on the foot for SDF-1..
but how about the valkyries? where can you find the mark for original 1/55 takatoku valkyries?

There are at least 5 versions of the large SDF-1 toy out there:
1. Original Takatoku release ( have one) 2. Taiwan Bootleg of the Takatoku released called "Macross SSF-1" with bootleg quality (have one) 3. Bandai/Matchbox release in Matchbox Robotech box but figure has Bandai mark on foot (have one) 4. Bootleg of the Bandai version that is identical to Bandai quality but has no manufacturing marks on the foot at all ( have one) 5. Unknown manufacturer release called "Space Battleship" - I do not own this one but have pics of it. It does not have the firing arms like Takatoku
The Bandai marked toy was never released in any packaging other than the Matchbox Robotech packaging. Although I'd be happy to get proved wrong on this if anyone has pictures.

Mine is the Robotech Miniature SDF-1 Battle Fortress (Part of the Robotech Collecors Series) - the body and half of each lower leg is diecast metal. it has only the mark of "Robotech" "harmony gold USA, made in China" on its' foot.
