Hello everyone, Sorry if this is the wrong topic to ask this question. I recently bought the parachute sack and weapon set #1 for the yamato scopedog and they came with some pieces that I have no idea what they are meant for. The instruction manual doesnt seem to mention anything about them either. The pieces are two hollow tube things and a flat bar with a small peg on it. Here is a picture of the pieces. i15.photobucket.com/albums/a355/GoggleV/DSC00251.jpgDoes anyone know what these pieces are for? Thankyou for all your help.

Most likely for helping to support the weapon pieces so that Scopedog and hold/wear it better. Heard they have pieces like that. Hope someone has the toy can help.

Finally got the Taklara 1/18 RSC parts. Overall still good, but not as good as I was expecting. Here is why:
For mine, a good number of parts need help to stay on good. Particularly the left arm cannon and the backpack, and of course the missiles. The rest stay on snug tight. For the arm cannon, I am not really digging the attachment design. While the black piece hooks well onto the elbow plate, the black piece connects to the blue cannon part with a very shallow peg, which causes the cannon to pop off every now and then. The peg could easily go twice as long, and still have enough clearance. Then the silver barrel also not connecting the blue part loose, again causing half of the cannon falls off. So within this one piece, there are two weak connections. The ammo clip is alos pretty big & long, so gets in the way a bit when posing. But thats more due to the original design. So it will need some work just to keep the arm cannon stay put. I somehow couldn't get the backpack hooked on the back. There don't seem to have much friction or locking between the hooks and the backpack slot, similar to Rabidlydog. The backpack just sits on the hooks by gravity. So I end up need to put a piece od foamie on one of the hook as a cushion, giveing it a lot more friction. Now its nice and tight. Lastly, my waist gattling gun extention (silver piece with grooves) is glued the wrong way rotated at a 90 degree, making it impossible to fit the gun on the waist. Have to take it apart and break some plastic inside to do the fix. Luckily, all the breakage is hidden inside so you won't see the flaws. But the fix did made the connection of the gun and backpack not perfectly straight at times. Thanks QC! And the missiles just keep falling whenever you hold the figure the wrong way...sigh. Takara had done so many thing right on the Scopedogs, so didn't expect them to miss the mark on a few of these things, when this accessories set is pretty simple, and costly.
So is it a bad purchase, not at all. Other parts still fit on nicely, and does make the scopedog heck of cool especially in action poses with the missiles launching from the shoulder. And to my surprise, the Vanilla figure this time is actually pretty good. The normal head is still a bit off on the likeness with the face too long. But the one with the goggle is quite good. Joints are tight enough on this one too. Like the new microman stands too, now letting both feet to rest on pegs. Much better than the old stand that has only 1 peg for one feet, while the another oversize peg that is pretty much useless for the figure. So its good that at least I get one good Chirico & Vanilla microman for display, while all the flimpsy ones are going to the cockpits. So overall, a good add-on, but kind of made my very playable Scopedog into a more fiddly display piece, before missiles start falling or arm cannon popping off.

I got a few of the accessory sets for Scopedog and am puzzled by some bits and pieces... For yours I think they're supposed to be replacement pieces for the shoulders of the Scopedog but I'm not sure (I don't want to take it apart!). The bag with the decal sheet and manual also had a sheet with close-up drawings of the shoulder joint but all the text is in Japanese so I can't read it... (Actually, mine are from the weapons set 2, but you get the idea) Maybe this should get it's own thread because there's a lot of different accessory sets now (multiple weapons sets, the Round-Mover, the Turbo-Custom set, etc) and more questions might come up in the future!

Hey Ben,
I feel like such an idiot now. I was looking at that sheet for so long, but I just didnt get it. When you mentioned replacement parts of the shoulder, it finally hit me. The two flat plate pieces with pegs on each feet of the scopedog. With the peg insert, it prevents the scopedogs 'toes' from moving up. The tube thing fits over the part which the arm peg goes into the body. If you position it at the angle shown in the instructions, it prevents the arm from moving down any from that position. I guess this is meant for the ver1 scopedog, since the arms seem to be way too loose to support the massive missile launchers weight. Hope this helps. -Sining

Version 1? So let me get this straight, Yamato improved their Scopedog the same way this tweaked every VF-1 since the "Max" model?
In general my Scopedog was "floppy" when I first took it out of the box (but then realized it wasn't correctly "snapped" so the leg dropped into "down mode"; once correctly snapped in place, it stood up proudly without problems). My arms are pretty reasonable too and hold up the big bazooka From Weapons Set #2 just fine. My Scopedog toes move up but they're pretty solid ratchet jointed... I'm guess that means I have a version 2?

IIRC, improvements in the 1/12 scale Scopedogs were implemented starting with the Scopedog II. I haven't read anything to suggest that the first Scopedog or even the Melquiya version were ever reissued with the later improvements.

Sorry, I meant the original scopedog by ver1, since the red shoulder scopedog is ver2, i just called the first one ver1. Sorry for the confusion.

Alright, thanks... I have the Red Shoulder version. Either way, my joints are tight enough so I guess I won't be needing those extra bits.
I do have another question relating to the accessory sets... The parachute pack's extra ammo clips have a retractable version of the connector to hang them off the skirt-armour... but it's too short to slip onto the actual heavy-machine-gun... is this normal? Edit: Heh - I just answered my own question tonight. The connectors really do pull out far enough to fit on the heavy gun... that was embarrassing! ;D

Hello,
I just wanted to let everyone know about Yamato's extremely great customer service. Recently, the piece where the arm peg plugs into the body of my 1/12 Scopedog started to crack, so I called Yamato USA to ask if they could send me a replacement part. They told me that they would get back to me the next day, and surely enough, I received a call the next day saying that they would send me the replacement part and asked for my address.
This morning when I cam back to class, I found a UPS slip saying that they had left a package at my neighbors. I was expecting to pick up a small box with just the part needed, but Yamato went above and beyond and sent me a BRAND NEW Scopedog. Kudos to Yamato for providing some of the best customer service I have ever experienced.

Lucky you! I don't know how they decide these things. Yamato sent me a replacement for a mismatch piece (they actually sent the wrong color first but they've since told me they'll be sending the right one soon). I guess maybe because I'm all the way up here in Canada - I don't blame them for not wanting to ship a whole Scopedog up here if they don't have to.

Sometimes I scan the difficult instruction parts I can't figure out and run the text through google language tools. It will give a general idea if I'm stumped.

The site says its just soft vinyl cover parts for Robofie, meaning Volks just make the shell for it. I could be wrong, but Robofie could be that remote control robot system that had T-28, and cost a couple grand to get one. This could be a Votoms skin you can swap out of the T-28. That is just my guess.

Does anyone know which figures were released back in the 80's in the 1/24 scale? I have the Scopedog, Brutishdog, and the Red Shoulder Scopedog but in the manual that came with the Scopedog they show a Marshydog. Was this guy ever released as a Dual Model?

I could be wrong, but don't think Marshydog ever got the Duel Model treatment. It did have a Takara 1/24 scale model kit. If memory serves me right, the old Duel Models only comes in these forms: Scopedog with parachute backpack, Scopedog with Roundmover, Brutishdog, Red Shoulder Custom, and the all red Slashdog (PS1 game limited figure). Some of these have re-issues in slight different color variations. If you enjoy votoms toy info, consider getting a copy of the current Hobby Japan Plus vol.4. It has a very big coverage on votoms stuff from 1983-2007, as well as a bunch of very nice custom models.
