Jumping topics again... I just got Yamato's 1/12 Brutishdog! Yay! ...anybody know if Brutishdog is also a "version 2" model?... I think the Brutishdog was released in November 2006 and the Red (Metallic) Shoulder in May 2006. Then I think the Brutishdog is a version 2 as well. I don't actually own one so I am just making an educated (sort of) guess here. I do have a 1/12 Red Shoulder since last week. Yay!

Hi there nice thread. Today I found this vintage boxed tiny VOTOMS toy. Does anyone know any on line gallery of vintage Takara VOTOMS toys? I paid about 6.00 US$, complete with decals. Sorry about the pictures , my cell phone camera sucks!

Haha, there are too much to tell. But you bought yourself one of the best Votoms toys there is. DMZ-05 is very awesome. Rabidlydog is another great DMZ.
The TV show is really great, if you don't mind it being very old school. Then the OVAs bump it up on the animation/action quite a few notches. Great shows. Can't say I am too fond of the latest Pailsen Files though. Some cool scenes and very epic at times, but not that satisfying like the older OVAs after watching all the DVDs.

So far as I'm aware, only the original TV show was licensed for world-wide distribution. Places like Animesuki.com will still authorize torrents of the VOTOMS mini-series or OVA special movies. Not sure about PAL releases of VOTOMS tv series - in NTSC regions, the series was released in 4 sets, each one covering one of the major story-arcs (12 or 13 half-hour episodes) as we follow our main character on his adventure.

I'd need it on PAL for my player though as I'm in teh UK, Yeah, not sure if there are PAL versions released. But I can give you a rough series break down, so you know what to look for, be it DVD releases, or bit torrent if you have no choice. TV series (52 episodes total): 1-13 (Uoodo City arc) - Chirico's adventure in a city filled with crooks, series introduction 14-27 (Kummen arc) - Chirico in jungle warfare 28-39 (Sunsa arc) - Chirico in desert planet 40-52 (Quent arc) - Chirico's origin OVAs: The Last Red Shoulder (45 min) - Happens between TV series arc 1 & 2. Big Battle 45 min) - Short battle arena story happen right before the ending of the TV series. Roots of Ambition (45 mins) - Prequel of TV series, explaining more on how things begin. Defrost/Heretic Saints (5x 30 min episode series) - the very end of Chirico's story happen after TV series. Pailsen Files (12 30min episode series) - new series happen between Roots of Ambition OVA & beginning of TV series, they will make a condensed version feature movie of it later on. TV series is still the meat of the whole series. But the short OVAs adds quite a bit of it, especially Roots of Ambition (very well animated for its time) and Defrost (a very good closure of Chirico and the best draw 2D Votoms art). Pailsen Files is the latest with CG animation, but most are bells and whistles with less substance, and throws off the continuity of the whole series a little. So I'll suggest watch the TV series first, then the short OVAs, then Defrost or Pailsen Files last. Don't need to watch them in chronological order, as it may spoil some plotlines that the TV series didn't reveal completely. Votoms is definitely one of the most realistic & intriguing real robot anime shows, with a dark gritty feel, following an average joe Chirico in his adventure, then expand into something much bigger. Doesn't have the flashes of the Gundam franchise, therefore a smaller fan base. But its just as good, if not better.

Hey thanks for the help mpchi and ben-ohki i have a rather noob question, what is an OVA? I was looking at amazon at box sets, but it appears my ps3 and my dvd player are region 2 only, so the only option is to get them on the download. thank you for quoting the series order for the tv series, that will help me tremendously. and apologies for hijacking this thread with my questions, I will hopefully bring it back on track when I get my VOTOMS in with some pictures to share. Another small question, where does merowlink and the military bike fit into the story? or would this spoil the series, he is shown next to churico on the ad-leaflet i got and i just wondered why nobody mentioned him. I totally think more futuristic military aspect style stuff should be made in microman form.. it's soo brilliant.

Oh, no problem. I am sure people don't mind a bit of Votoms anime discussion on the Votoms thread. Not that there are a lot of traffic on this particular thread anyway.
OVA = Original Video Animation, meaning the 'straight to video' anime releases. They are usually higher quality than TV series since they have higher budget for a shorter show, but they are not quite as well done for a feature length theatrical release. OVA is a common term and category among anime shows.
About Mellowlink, its a side OVA series in the Votoms universe (think it has 13 episodes, but not sure), but not really related to Chirico's adventure. Mellowlink is the main character, and he is a armor trooper hunter. Unlike Chirico, he doesn't pilot any AT, but just use a long powerful rifle to shoot down AT. There are some cool scopedog customs show up in this show, but the show didn't get very popular so almost none of these designs showed up as toys. But heard the series is a pretty good watch, but I haven't watch any.

Oh, thats the removable side handle bar of the all grey missile launcher weapon, the fat cylinder one. You should find a slot on the left side (right side is the ammo box) where you can just plug that piece in (the smaller end goes in the slot, with the 3 strips facing out).

So has anyone here picked up the 1:18th Calamity Dog by CM Toys? I've been bitten by their lack of QA before and I am hesitant to pick it up because of it.

Does anyone have a pic of one of Bandai's 1/20 Scopedog kits (in particular the Brutishdog www.hlj.com/product/BAN950531 ) next to one of Takara's 1/18 DMZ Scopedogs? Curious as to how big the size difference is. Would love to get a Brutish Dog in DMZ scale.

Digging up this old Votoms thread, see if you guys have seen any of the latest shows.
I am interested in the Phantom Arc OVA series (6 episodes), as well as the theatrical Alone Again (55 mins, DVD coming out april). Have you guys seen any? What do you think?
I am particularly interesting in getting Alone Again, as its the continuation of Shining Heresy OVA. And its just a one shot deal. Phantom Arc on the other end, seems very pricey for a 6 episode release. I don't want to get burn again, after importing the Pailsen Files set and didn't live up to my expectation. But these new shows seems to have more homage and focus on the Chirico we grew to love so much from the old TV series and OVAs. So very curious of what these shows are like.
