I think that's because that's the last one up for sale. Back when it first came out, they were shelling for only $60. This shows that earlier sales will result in lower prices due to competition.

I want to see more Simon and Kamina toys. Also, a perfect combination Gurren Lagann. Perhaps by SHE. Yoko toys are saturating the market.

The character design of Yoko is more appealing to the mass market. So I doubt we will see too many of the other characters in mass production. I would like to see a gashapon set of all the sub characters though so everyone from the cast has a toy. I would love to have a Lord Genome figure.

I would love to see a fighting game done for GL in the style of Marvel vs capcom.

Man, I am loving the dub so much. Steve Blum is so very hilarious and awesome as Leeron.

I was surprised that Leeron could be more flaming. I am happy with all the dubs except for Kamina.

Just caught the first episode on SciFi.com just to see what all the fuss was about, and after one episode I was hooked. I can already see that all rave reviews for this show are the real deal and not just fanboy rantings. I also enjoyed the dub enough to not buy the straight subtitled dvd's and to wait for the eventual dvd's with both options. There are a lot of bad dubs out there, but Tony Oliver & co. imo are one of the better groups. I'm not very patient, so it's gonna be a tough wait for dubbed dvd's.
Btw, the nenderoid Yoko is cool. Can't wait to start collecting some of the merchandise, although the Great Impact GL is a little too expensive for my blood. Haha.

Wow, $19.99 for 9 episodes of Gainax modern falgship title goodness is just "so that's pretty good"? Quite an understatement. Picked up the DVD today, but haven't watched it yet. But very excited about this release since I have been waiting for the DVDs for a good while. But does any of you know why Gurren Lagann DVDs got so cheap under Bandai Entertainment release? Bandai used to charge $30+ for 2 episodes, causing me to stay away from their releases for more than a year. Now with GL, which is such a high profile show, they are like throwing it out dirt cheap. Is Bandai Entertainment going down too? Well, consider these: 1) It really wasn't that good, at least IMHO. 2) DVD's are older technology, everything is sweeping to Blu-ray. A Blu-ray movie will cost you ~$30, so if a DVD cost that much, many may not buy it, so drop the price and sell more. Simple economics.

I already watched it. But even seeing it again, the major ended on episode 8 is still a shocker.

A Blu-ray movie will cost you ~$30, so if a DVD cost that much, many may not buy it, so drop the price and sell more. Simple economics. I think this particular case goes a bit deeper. GL was licensed by ADV-Films with great fanfare last year. It should have been out complete with dub soundtrack at least 6 months ago, but we all know what kind of trouble ADV go into earlier this year. Eventually the license lapsed and that's when Bandai swept in and grabbed it. As much as it is a cash-grab, I think Bandai is essentially catering to the hard-core fans who've waited so long by releasing a budget-priced sub-titles-only release. Trying to get on the fanbase's good side by doing a quick, cheap, and barebones release to fans who are just tired of all the waiting. Heck, even I fell for it and picked it up last week despite knowing that a sub/dub version possibly with more extras is coming down the pipe.

Finished the whole series. Enjoyed it a lot. While not very deep and quite illogical at times, it got some good touching moments and get very hot-blood at times too. Its one of my favorite modern robot show since GGG Final. Its like the show make it blatantly obvious not taking itself seriously, and just keep pushing and pushing the action, silliness & hot-bloodness and keep it rolling, while neglecting to answer all the questions or back story. Just use enough elements to drive the story and keep it going at full speed until the finale. Pretty much like a roller coaster ride really. Very likeable characters too, whether they have a small role or big. Very fun stuff.
