After my first VF-11B broke when I bought it years ago.... only after breathing on it. I just got another one for a good price and was happy. I transformed it, and transformed it back and it broke again! I didn't even touch the leg this time.
I must say this time I took care and it pisses me off enough not to buy any Yamato pieces.
OVERALL, though I suspect a big NO... did anyone make any custom replacement parts for the leg joints or anything? Just want to know before I toss these things in the trash where they belong.

Was the other one the FAST pack version ?
If it was the plain VF-11b those were prone to leg breakage, the one with FAST pack were the reinforced ones as far as I can remember.
As for fixes mostly super glue and a longer screw inside the broken peg if my memory serves me right. Also loosening the screw that holds the leg joint so it is not so tight when you turn the legs when transforming. Some even put a lil oil to lessen the friction.

Yeap, these are the fixes that were suggested on MW. Using a longer screw for the hip-joint is a good fix, but it's a little difficult to find the right diameter that will fit the screw hole (that sounded dirty... ). Your other option, and if you have the tools, is to drill a hole from the hip-joint through the fuselage, and then reinforce the hips with a metal bar.

Well for years my VF-11b survived the war but now it has been added to the list of injured valks.
Was cleaning my cabinet earlier. When I picked up the VF-11b the leg snapped off. Good thing the break was L shape so the superglue held better.
He's back in active duty and still able to transform. ::whew::

Good thing the break was L shape so the superglue held better. He's back in active duty and still able to transform. ::whew:: Sorry to hear about the breakage man but I'm Glad it worked out for you. Yeah, I really think that its the "tightness" in its hip joint that causes all these breakages. I recently opened that joint and did notice some minor stress marks on that hip bar. That joint is so tight that twisting it to move the legs even slightly would likely cause damage. I applied some petroleum jelly on the ball joint its self then assembled the hip legs again. This loosened that joint to prevent future potential damage [hopefully]. This issue reminds me of Takatoku's orguss drifand 1/60's where the joints were screwed on too tight and any attempt to move them prior to loosening the screws a little caused the arms to snap off. Mine did and I was just too upset to fix it so to the garbage it when.....a $60 lesson learned

I think it was more to the mold than the tightness of the screws on the joint. I already tried loosening the hips when we first got wind of the breakeages, and applied lubricants to ease any tension, but I still ended up breaking mine.
Also, a large majority of the reported breaks are for the left hip joint. Makes you think that there was a flaw on the mold that caused the left hips to be severely fragile.
If your 11B hasn't fallen to the curse (and I'm praying it won't), make the modification by using a longer screw, or brace the joint by drilling through the fuselage, and inserting a metal bar.

Just want to know before I toss these things in the trash where they belong. can post a picture of how the hip joint broke? same thing happen to my yamato vf 11b a year ago. i got it MISB and when i opened the box the leg just fell out of the box. i was able to fix it by 1. drilling a small hole on the broken hip joint. (the broken end) 2. drill a small hole in the fuselage where the hip joint use to be. 3. use a small washer and screw to connect the hip joint back on. i also use a little super glue to keep everything together. . when i get home i will try to find my vf 11b and take some pictures of it. Hope this help. good luck. wilson.
