I've seen pics of the toy with all the stickers put on, it looks a thousand times better. I'll probably get it but not anytime soon.

OK. I gave in and got one at a price that's less than retail. First the positives. I am impressed with the diecast content--it's pretty hefty. I do like the sculpt for the most part and the level of detail that Toynami put into the toy (e.g., the compartment for the bike, the hands are articulated with finger joints). The packaging is terrific as usual for the Masterpiece series. Now the negatives. Quality control is still not the strong point for Toynami. Mine came with a part on the arm that was broken due to poor fit (the right arm peg that holds the diecast part in place). It seems the peg was forced into place. Fortunately, this was remedied with some careful shaving of the peg with a sharp hobby knife and Super Glue. It's now a bit loose but works and stays in place. I also have the same problem that others are having: The right arm piece doesn't compress back together correctly in Fighter mode after it has been telescoped out. Yes, fit and finish could be better. The other apparently common problem is that the wheels aren't level even when fully extended in Fighter mode. Overall, it's not that bad of a piece, but it could have been so much better with just a little more tweaking before final release. I think my 1/48 Yamato Valk is still by far the better toy despite the lack of much diecast. However, this is a Legioss (Alpha) fighter, and there just are many Legioss toys out there.

Meant to say that there just are NOT very many Legioss toys out there. The Gakken toys are classic and great but are not as detailed and not readily available. These are at a fraction TEXT of the price of the large Gakken Alphas and sport a lot of diecast.

I received an email reply from Toynami that it's still undecided as to whether they will produce the Beta fighter.

Here's the email response from Toynami about the Beta fighter: To Whom It May Concern, Thank you for your inquiyr. There are no current plans for the Beta fighter. We have considered it but at this moment it is undecided. Please check back at our website, www.toynami.com, at our news link for updates. Thank you for your continued support. Well I decided to take the plunge and just picked up the Scott Bernard version (the store I went to only had one). First the price was not too bad although this should be cheaper (trust me). I got it for $79 + Virginia tax but no shipping since it was at the store. If it weren't for the fact that they are only making 15,000 of these (not that it matters at this point) and this is the only alpha available without spending a few hundred dollars, I wouldn't have bought it plus I got intrigued by the diecast content of it (so I read). Well I tell you, Toynami still has a long way as far as QC'ng their stuff. For a MIB toy it looks like someone played with it for 15 minutes or so. The paintjob makes it look so. The diecast content is impressive for a small piece (another negative, could've been bigger). Transforming was not too big a deal but the joints could definitely be better, the head when transforming to battroid mode just sits on top of the robot and again the hip joints make it impossible to stand this thing up straight. Also the legs could be a bit more even, the one I got seems like it got infected a bit by the polio virus (one leg is a notch too short). Definitely not worth the $80 maybe $45, Toynami needs to wake up and do something, productions like these can run them out of business. I for one tomorrow will get in touch with them and see if I can get my money back (yeah right!) but they will definitely hear it from me. I have more complaints about the toy but I wont bore you guys with them (lots of small things). Overall I would grade this from a D+ to a C. Now I'm in a dilema if I should keep this thing and get the rest that's due to come out or stop here and get rid of it?

Picked up the Rook Bartley Alpha the other day and by far this is better than the Scott Alpha, but not THAT much better. The paintjob is better but overall quality is not too much better than the first one. I have a feeling I might stop here, skip the green alpha that's coming up and maybe, just maybe I will buy the shadow fighter. I think I've had enough of Toynami's crap Robotech toys for now. Goodness, if the RT stuff is this shabby I wonder how they will do with the Voltron Masterpiece? Get on the ball Toynami!
