Hi all, I was just curious, it's been a while since the "fixed" version of the DX Genesic GGG(12 incher) came out and I still haven't gotten mine yet. I got the first release version from a local retailer here in the Philippines, who in turn got it from a HK distributor named "Asia goal". Cms then later released "fixed versions" of the GGGG free, just pay the shipping charge(i think this was back in May 2005). After waiting all this time I was only recently notified by the local retailer that Asia Goal says that they weren't given the "fixed"version of GGGG, and thus won't be able to send one to us. (I trust my local retailer 100%, so I know he's on the level) So I was wondering, would writing to CMs Japan directly help at this point, or is it already too late? It kinda sucks since I was hoping to get the "fixed" GGGG. Any info would be really appreciated. Thanks in advance. Gold

Gold, sorry to hear that. I am pretty sure the Asia Goal is smoking crack, if the local retailer is 100% trustworthy. When I order it through a Japanese friend, she get direct emails from CM, notifying when the fixed version will be out (after they announced the GGGG is defective & will make an improved version), which is like a 3-4 month wait. Don't remember exact time. When the time comes, CM email my friend again that the fixed GGGG is shipped. Then soon enough, the thing arrived at her parent's doorstep in Japan. CM is very thorough about this, so its not likely that Asia Goal was never informed about this. As CM didn't just emailed once, but multiple times with occasional updates. Besides, its a HK dealer we are talking about. They could just sell the fixed version for a higher price, rather than giving you for free. HK dealers are very money oriented in a lot of cases, especially when all they need to do is deny it with an email or two. If its a local customer, at least they can bug them directly, or even take legal action if needed to. But you are from a different country, which makes things a lot more difficult for you.
And unfortunately, contacting CM is not likely to get this resolved. As CM probably have shipped Asia Goal all the fixed GGGG Asia Goal ordered. And the direct buyer is Asia Goal, not you. Don't think CM will trust you enough to send you a free $600 GGGG. And besides, they may have shipped out all they have months ago, with none left with them.
So, I would say the only way to get it is to bug Asia Goal, even show them all the CM pages & prints so that they can't just say "there is no fixed version" and brush you off. But the chance that they send you one is thin. Who knows, they might have sold your fixed GGGG months ago to make that extra $500-600.
Don't take all my word for it, as its all speculation. But being a Chinese myself, and seeing how HK dealers sell in local stores & on ebay, they can be pretty nasty if they want to. So try contact both Asia Goal & CM if you can, just to see how things turn out. It may not be as bad as I think. Good luck dude.

Just an update. Well, my local retailer(www-greattoys-net) finally got through to Asiagoal the other day and they finally agreed to ship us the fixed GGGG, the catch is we have to ship the first version to them first, after which they'll ship the "replacement" unit to us. So even though I have to spend a little extra on shipping and only end up with one GGGG instead of two, well, at least it's the "fixed" version.. I guess I can take some consolation in that(that tail assembly on the first version was a nightmare to lock in place ;D) Hopefully the unit will arrive before Christmas. Thanks again to Greattoys for the big assist, and to Mpchi for the suggestions and help. Thanks guys! Gold

Thats great news! I also end up only getting 1 GGGG instead of 2. My case is a bit funny though. CM actually sent my friend;s parents a 1st version GGGG. But that was after we made it clear to CM that its the improved version that we ordered. So we thought the GGGG mailed to us by mistake. So being the good samaritan, my friend called CM and told them they mailed us the wrong item. So CM later took it back. Little did I know that weeks later, it was made clear to the public that CM is mailing out the improved version without needing the return of the bad version. T_T So, we actually could have kept that one they sent us earlier, even just for spare parts... But oh well.

Didn't really feel too bad about it though, as I did get what I ordered, the improved version. And don't look like I need any spare parts anytime soon. Just one of those "it would be nice to have" kind of thing, since it was free.
