Just a mini-review of the newest GFF. First the pictures though. This is my third GFF figure and overall I'm happy with it. Zeta Plus takes the range of modes GFF provides further than most of its previous releases, with a total of six possible with the parts included. I went straight for the Z Plus C1(Bst) mode as this provided the bulkiest bot mode with all the boosters attached and it was this that sold me on #0017. As with previous GFFs building a different mode involves assembling a variety of PVC parts that come packed in the case. And as with the others I've built this is fairly time consuming largely due to the sheer number of ties you have to undo to get those pieces out. Other than unpacking, assembling this mode was relatively easy with maybe a couple of occasions where I had to study the instructions closely. What's good about the GFF range is you get to build a variety of modes and each one gives you a nicely detailed, impressive Gundam. What's not good about GFFs is that they are made from PVC and its far from the most solid of materials. I was particularly disappointed to find that my Gundam's cannon was already showing signs of droop. I'm happy with the look of this figure, I enjoyed assembling it, but I'm sticking to picking and choosing my GFFs as all that PVC dampens my enjoyment of this range

It looks nice. Does it have any playability at all? This has always been the issue I've had with the GFF line. Expensive, nice looking, zero playability.

In the big mode like this there's no playability at all. He's a bit more poseable in the basic mode, still not comparable with an MSIA. What playability there is comes from changing the modes, but it's something I've not really tried much.
It's why I only pick up the odd item in the range. As you say they look great, but they cost and they're a statue in the end.

Nice write-up and photos! And perfect timing! I was just about to put up a post asking about the FIX Gundams. So are these things all vinyl like the 5" action figures? Are there hard plastic parts at all? Finally what size are these figures? 1/144? 1/100? JWM

I would rather spend dough on a similar price but better toy like the Metal Material gundams, or the upcoming Arch Enemy series Gelgoog and RX-78.

Shoulders are ball-joints I'm afraid; with the weight of thoose boosters poseability is severely limited.
With GFF in general the materials used are soft plastics with the exception of the base (and Deep Striker's bg cannon). Joints tend to be simple ball and socket or hinges and they rely on friction to keep things in place. What this means is they aren't very easily posed and they tend to sag over time (especially with the weight of several boosters). They do however look very nice when assembled and they do provide a number of variations on the Gundam provided.
My recommendation would be to only buy if the particular Gundam involved appeals. I like the GFFs I've got, but if Bandai released versions in ABS and with better joints I'd swap in an instant.

That's one of the drawbacks of the FIXATION series that I found too - lack of playability. The best looking RX-78-2 I've ever seen and it doesn't come with beam sables!
