After following the 'regrets' thread, I couldn't help myself and ordered a White Base from HLJ. Now that the painful part of paying for it is over, there is only the pleasure of anticipating the heavy parcel from Japan. I'll gladly add my out of box review when it arrives (would have posted this to the original WB thread, but it is closed?) Ward

Review Part 1: First Sighting The BanDai Gundam 'White Base' (SCV-70 pegasus class assault landing craft) box arrived from HLJ yesterday ( just 6 days from the order date of March 10 !) Big box, about 17" square, roughly 10 lbs. of promise. Great pictures & graphics on the box, seeing the WB at various angles now, I notice that it looks like some kind of mecha-Sphinx. Upon opening the sturdy panel box (has a plastic carry handle on top), greeted by the individual assemblies in clear, sealed bags. The weight and thickness of the ABS plastic parts convinces me that this thing will be a 'toy' when assembled. The instructions indicate further, that WB is intended to be a display case of sorts, for the mini-Gundam collection (every section of the ship opens in some manner to store Gundams, the largest section being under the central bridge structure). Even the rear engine pods pull off to expose more storage space ( would make a great Warhammer 'Space-Hulk' game board). The three mini-Gundams are gorgeous, super detailed, (non-articulated, 1.5" tall) ... dangerously addictive little jewels to include...can only lead to collecting the series. Included are: RX-78-2 Gundam, RX-77-2 Guncannon, and RX-75 Guntank; each sealed in individial baggies. The 8 page instuction booklet is, as JWM guessed, a modeller's dream of step-by-step clarity (thank you BanDai engineers). The Japanese text is no obstical, with these excellent plans. Parts are molded in color, some small areas of paint ops, but no air-brushed panel lines (as in most pictures of this item). A sturdy stand is included, to elevate the finished model about 3" off the table. Plenty of small screws (as you will find in many toy assemblies), and the instuctions indicate that each screw will be hidden by a small plastic panel cover to match the surface of the ship (wish more toys had this!). From the number of parts, and only 12 main assembly sections in the instructions; I'm guessing a leisurely 3-4 hrs. to assemble, ...with screws (luckily married men have tremendous forearm endurance ) I'll report the assembly and finish when I get a day for this (soon). I won't call it a 'playset' yet, but confidence is high ;D Ward

I can't wait to see pictures of the finished product. Or maybe I shouldn't look. It would take very little convincing to make me decide that I need one very badly. JWM

Pics sound good!

Your review has got me sold 50%, now the pics will decide he he he he ;D
