Hi there! Nice to meet you! I'm no expert but I could give you a few tips. The ones you find on the internet are usually done w/ airbrushes. That's why it's so smooth and clean. If you plan on using a paint brush, I suggest you thin out the paint first before you start painting. If you don't, the paint will look clumpy when it dries. Also, if you don't have an airbrush, I suggest that you use a spray can for larger areas. Look around this forum for a post on panel lines. They are one of the most useful techniques in modelling, especially Gundams. Because sometimes just panel lining is sufficient. It really makes a huge difference! Anyway, hope that helps.

Tamiya paints are also good. It is the same on our side most that you can see are Tamiya paints.
As for the white spot made by the sprue some do sand them to make it smooth. Me, I use a nail clipper to really cut it clean.

If you don't have sandpaper, you can use the file on the nail clipper (that is if the nail clipper has a file on it).

X-acto makes a cutter expressly designed for cutting sprues on plastic models. I works great, and doesn't cost much. If you're going to build Gundams, it's a must-have. JWM

It's X-Acto, it's like a knife w/ a small but sharp blade and a very long handle much like a pencil. You should be able to find one in any model shop, or go to an arts supply shop. I don't know, but in HK they call it a cutter, I don't know what they'd call it in Australia but anyway, you should be able to find a cheap one around.
As for your questions on the paints, there are 3 types, acrylic, enamel and laquer. The easiest to paint w/ would be acrylic but the nicest results would be laquer. Enamel is some where in between. Flat paints describe the "glossiness" of the paint. Flat would be a dull matte colour, and there is semi-gloss and gloss which is pretty self explanatory. I like to use acrylic because it is easy to use (Tamiya), also acrylics are usually flat and I prefer my Gundam models being flat.
So I guess it's your personal preference on the paints. Just look around to see what's available.

Hi FXR, me too new to this forum & a gundam modeller...infact i've been using airbrush on most of my gundams but for the g. wing ver.ka, i still think that w/o any paint would be best...the original colour of this gunpla is very cool indeed ( have built one), the decal or so call sticker really made a lot of diff. fantastic look....

hmmm, thanks for the tipppp...I'll try and master the cementing and cutting, and now I really do realise this ain't a cheap hobby XD hehaehahe, about cementing, do I just do it in the gaps? and then sandpaper it then paint it? would it be smooth if I'm not using airbrush?? and also what about the gundam MSA-0011 [Ext]-S or smthg like that, i was planning to buy that too but then I guess I need to master the skills first XD hehehe any suggestion on this model?? and about the wing zero Ver.Ka which marker should I use, gold marker or normal black one?? and I saw this gundam side cutter, is this really work? coz I bought the normal gundam cutter and it seems to not work really well...oh well thnx again ^^"

The thicker one may be apply only if the gap is too wide but gundam mg moulding is quite perfect so the gap is just a small lining...not that i pro japan, that's the reason why they are made in japan....on the painting but of course using airbrush would done a better job...anyway if u can paint with brush skillfully, ur model will turn up spectacular too...any gundam will do, any model....just master ur skill 1st...use the gold or brown marker for the panelling cos if u notice properly this model( wing vers. ka) colour is a bit of ivory instead of white....gold/brown will do a good job.....as for the cutter i'm using the brand excel....is cheap & do a good job..but of course the blade must be sharp.....

hi guyss...I've finished my wing zero and now the tatooing and stickering, I was thinking of spraying a clear tamiya spray on the wings to make it glossy, I was thinking should I put the tatoo first then the paint of the other way around? look forward to your reply...thanks

for this model, do u notice the white part of the whole body is a bit of ivory colour....so i didn't spray it with gloss spray....this ivory colour suppose to create the dream effect.....anyway it's ok, u can always try....try to spray 1st then the stickers....the other way round, it may ruin ur stickers ( i'm one of the idiot ever done that)
