Well now... I think I should have joined this place a long time ago!
I started ... late I guess with Gundam Wing and am slowing making my way through the series(both with the episodes and the models).
I currenty own almost every Gundam Wing/Endless Waltz model including Wing Zero Custom PG, but I have a few questions for all you experienced builders out there:
Basically... what are the main differences in all the scales... like Perfect Grade, Big Scale Real Detail (Gundam Seed), EX, and MSV (Mobile Suit Variation... Gundam Seed again).
Thats the first question. Just as well... why are there so many Strike Gundam kits, haha. the 1/60 scale complete one looks awesome, but now that the Perfect Grade kit is out... do I get that and forgo all the cool weapons?
And... anyone know of any secrets from Bandai of upcoming models... like larger versions of any of the models... I really do like the higher grade/master/perfect grade kits and would like more...they must make more!! ;D
Well, thats enough of those questions.
How about painting tips, info on metal gundams (there's a metal Strike gundam too!) ... and best places to by this stuff.
Thanks in advance, ~Chance Kelly

Welcome ;D
I am not much into models, but more on the toys itself. Currently the Strike Gundam is popular thus they are milking the design so you see the Strike Gundam in all shapes and sizes saturating the Market. Just like the RX way back when.
The difference in Grades basically shows the difference in scales, details put on the model, and the difficulty in building it. The higher the grade the more parts and details to go around.

Welcome to the board! I always thought the Grades went like this. -Perfect Grade -Master Grade -High Grade Then there are a tonne of variations like EX Models which are ships, 1/60 Big Scale that are the same size as PG's but not at nice, the new Metal Material Model GQ which are 1/100 scale Seed models that cost more than Master Grade ones of the same scale. But I'm not a Gundam expert so maybe someone else can explain them better.

Perfect Grade - 1/60 Models that include a Skeletal Frame before armor pieces are added on. These are the most expensive and most detailed selection of gundam models you can get. There are like less than 10 different perfect grades so far. These take a very very long time to build, for paitent n experienced modellers only
Master Grade - 1/100 scale, extremely detailed compared to taht of HG. Usually comes with dry transfers a zillion variety of stickers. May have a "skeleton" but only for some parts. I recommend this grade if you want detail + posability. If you paint and ecals these, it wil probaly take weeks
High Grade - 1/100. Standard gundam models. have enough details and posability to please novice modellers. usually not very detailed, comes with stickers for eyes and other parts Bandai didnt feel like coloring. without painting and stuff, this should probaly take a day
Big Scale - 1/60 Bigger versions of High Grade 1/100 this feels more like a toy than a model IMO.
High Grade - 1/144 Smaller versions of 1/100. soemtimes these are even better than the 1/100's. this is definetly the case with the GW EW models.

Awesome, thanks everyone.
I actually ended up ordering the Strike PG, Ali Strike MG, and HG 1/144 Buster... for now... Hopefully I'll get more later!
I'm going to take some of my old Gundam Wing models and practice airbrushing them before I attempted it on my PG models... this should be fun! ;D
