OK, this is the first model I've ever done that doesn't require glue, so I gotta ask.... are these posts supposed to be this fragile? I've already had two break on the first model, and the most recent one is in the lower leg, so even glue won't hold it together with the rubber joint squished in there. guess I'm going to have to fudge it and fill in the crack later. Good thing I was planning on painting the model anyway.

well they usually break only if you screwed up a step and need to separate the parts. If it does hapen I try to separate the parts with my hobby knife.

I found the model fits on the "cheap American" models to be a bit lacking. Which kit did you get? Was it a US toy or import.

Fairly certain it's an import, though since I bought it on ebay, I suppose it could be a *ahem* Hong Kong import. I bought it from an American seller, so it's hard to say where HE got it from. But the instructions are all in Japanese, so I'm pretty sure it's not domestic.

-Just sounds like bad luck. I've broken a few pens too when I changed my mind. The newer press fit pegs just aren't like the old snap-tight models of the 70's and 80's. But..... you are painting it now. It should look better in the end -Post a picture later **prod prod**

absolutely. Got it put together, btw, and yeah, it's going to need some work. It's the Vayeate from Gundam Wing, and the power pack keeps falling off, the gun handle is so hard to squeeze into the hand that I pulled the arm off twice trying. There are gaps that need to be filled. And it goes on. Well, I DID only pay $15 for four models, so I can't complain too much if I have to make up for the price in work.
Things to try for the next model: Sand down the posts so they slide into the holes more easily Cut the posts shorter to eliminate gap problem Plan on glueing from the outset. Possibly install a tiny LED in the head.... may not be viable for 1/144 scale though
Just ordered a 1/100 Strike Gundam, so I can try a different run of models(I would have ordered a MG or PG, but my budget's tight this paycheck).

Too bad you chose the Vayeate. I had that kit, and the Mercurius, and threw them both away. They are cheap kits, and poor examples of Bandai models. There are also scores of bootlegs of the Gundam Wing 1/144's out there. I got skunked on a Wing Zero boot myself. The 1/100 H.G. (high grade) and 1/144 H.G.U.C. series of models are excellent kits, and much better representatives of Bandai Japan's products. I've never had to trim or cut a pin on any of the HGUC, Master Grade, or Perfect Grade issues. JWM

I also got the Mercurius, the Deathscythe and the Tallgeese II of the same series.
