I'mreally tempted to pick up the MG 1/100 MSZ-006 Zeta Gundam but I've just read a pretty bad review of it over at Mecha Anime HQ ( www.mahq.net/models/gundam/gundam.htm ). What are your views on thiskit?

To sum up quickly. Kinda flimsy (in both modes), can't really hold up weapons well. But it DOES transform. That's about it...

I can't recommend it. The HGUC is much better, although it doesn't transform. Also, I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if Bandai were planning to release a 1.5 or 2.0 Zeta MG pretty soon, to coincide with the movies.

This was one of the best models of the time when it was released, but that was 9 years ago. It is quite inferior when comparing it with today's MG. The only good thing that an old model has is its relatively cheap price: only 3000 yen instead of between 3500 to 4000 yen by today's standard.
Since this is the first transformable MG model, it is quite fragile and has no inner "skeletons". Its hands cannot even hold its beam rifle properly. It is fully transformable into WaveRider mode, but don't expect that you can play it as a toy like the MSiA. The WaveRider mode is actually quite nice, provided that you leave it as a display and avoid moving it.
Back in 1996, this model has the glory as the first fully-transformable Z Gundam model (except that you need to remove and re-fit the shield), but that was the days when the PG, MSiA, and GFF series were not available. I hope Bandai will release a new MG version but no official news has been announced yet.

I have the metal coating version. It looks great, but does seem fragile. I custom-installed a tail-light which I heard is included in the non-coating version. It does transform, but I've been afraid to do it fully for fear of breaking something in the process. ![:)](http://lemonstre.fr/robot-japan/smileys/smiley.png)

I know its got its share of problems. My friend has this kit and the joints are too weak. Bandai has remade the Gundam MG kit and made up for their flaws there, so if you want a MG Zeta, wait a sec. They'll hopefully remake that. If you want to settle for a smaller scale, the HG kit rocks. I own it and love it. If you're a Katoki fan and wouldn't mind a Katokified Zeta, its 1'144th with perfect transformation, althoug I;m not too sure how strong that thing will be at such a small scale. Your best bet is to wait Bandai out for a newer MG Zeta. With the Zeta revival dawning, It shouldn't take that long.

Cheers for all the replies, boys. However, and this is not to say I don't respect your opinions, I decided to go ahead and get it anyway (it'snot like it's that expensive). In fact, as I'm currently watching the Z Gundam TV series for the first time, I've kinda got the Zeta fever. I've purchased the Zeta and Zeta plus C1 MG kits (I already have the Zeta A MG, and I love it. Kinda how I went down this path in the first place), I've got a Kahen Senshi Zeta on the way (Titans colour) (I know this toy has received some bad press, but I've got the ZZ and I love it, plus all the pics of it look really cool) and also (thanks in no small way to Zephyranthes) I've scored a MIB Realtype Musha Gundam Cloth Zeta (from the late eighties) for what Zeph says is a more than reasonable price. Long live the Zeta I say, and bring on more MG versions........... (god I want the PG..............)

I heard that the coating version of MG Zeta will be released again (in Japan) in March this year. It is the same model as the normal one, except that the pieces are in coating, has a 1/20 Kamiru figure (unpainted), do not have the tail light as in the normal MG version, and 1000yen more expensive.
You can consider this if you're interested.

The nice thing about the coating version is that for the most part it spares you from having to paint it. That translates to a lot of saved time for those of us who have more time limitations for our hobbies due to things like...kids. ![;)](http://lemonstre.fr/robot-japan/smileys/wink.png) I actually ended up painting a few things anyway, but it took nowhere near the time for a complete paint job. A few years ago I went on a metal coating MG model kick and got the Anniversary versions of the RX-78, Zeta, GP-01fb, GP-02, and Zaku's (Green and Char's red).
