I intend to buy a few HG 1/144 models and some paint to start decorating them sometime in the near future (around a month).
What are some materials do I need to get started? I've seen a variety of choices: Gundam Markers, Mr. Color paint, and Mr. Color spray paint. I don't want to get into airbrushing or any of that anytime soon
as it's too costly.
The Mr.Color gundam color sets I've seen on HLJ, is it sufficient to buy a set for a certain model I am painting or do I have to buy more? Most gundams don't just have 3 colors. Do the sets include just enough to paint one model or would I have a lot left?
The Mr. Color spray paints seem like they would give a good look for the models, but then I would need to buy a lot of them because there would be many colors right? Also, if I plan to spray paint, do I only spray paint or do I only use it as a base?
Gundam markers seem like a good choice for me. There are some problems though. When painting, wouldn't the color have brush strokes? That would not look very fluid at all. The fine-line panel markers look attractive though.
If I paint the models, will I need to paint the whole? What I mean is should I just leave the white parts white (if the plastic is white) or would I need to buy a color for every single one in gundam? Also, can anyone point me to sites that have tips and tutorials on painting with Gundam markers, spraying with mr.color, or painting with mr.color paint?
