I've built a couple model kits but they turned out like crap since I was only around 10-11 when I built them.
My most recent model was the SD Wing Gundam Zero custom....turned out like total crap. Pieces broke, I tried fyling down the plastic that was left when I cut the pieces from the spruce, I ended up fyling the plastic and it turned out like crap.
It was my first time trying panel lines and it turned out ok I guess but I think I rushed alot when completing the kit.
Anyway onto the point.
I recently ordered the 1/60 Wing Gundam Zero Custom model and it should be here by next week. I'm prepared to actually be paitent with this model, not rush and try my best to do a good job but without going into too much detail.
One thing I'm worried about however. In the pictures included on the box of almost every gundam model, the model is painted perfectly, the panel lines are perfect, the pose....everything is. I've seen a couple pics of the finished model with no panel lines and no extra paint...it's very...blah but ones with panel lines look pretty good. How would I go about giving this model a good look?
Should I spray all the spruces with something to dull the shine of the plastic?
Do you think if I just build the model and add panel lines it will look good enough?
How do I get the black faded effects across the model? I've seen how good they make a model look and am considering doing it to Zero provided it's not too hard of a task.
I really don't want to go into too much detail as I'm worried about screwing up and making this $175 model look like crap.
Thanks.
