Whatever happened to these nice Banpresto figures? www.zincpanic.com/pop_img.phtml?name=zz3.jpg&article=21006I have the RX-78 and the F-91. The F-91 is especially nice with its numerous gimmicks including moving shoulder fins, moveable beam cannons, retracting facemask... Has anyone seen more of this series for sale? I really would like to find the RX-79.

They are very difficult to find! I've heard they were going to release and/or re-release the line this year. If I find some, I'll post info here. I, too, only have the F-91 and Okawara Color RX-78. Love them both.
To be honest, I don't know if those in the pictures even saw a release (yet). I haven't seen them anywhere and there are no pix or product shots to be found!

Early last year I saw some of these (inc. the G-Armor) pop up on eBay. However, I haven't seen these (except for the F-91 and Okawara colored RX-78) for sale anywhere. Frustrating. I've been impressed with this line from Banpresto. I was particularly impressed with Banpresto's Perfect Transform Victory Gundam (the one with DIECAST parts)!

No, it's a DX UFO Catcher. There are a bunch of these for SEED and other Sagas. I have many of them. This is brand new, though, and it is hard to find Banpresto stuff in the States.

Pardon my ignorance but what are SCM? Are they like MSiA?

They are wonderful UFO Catcher game prizes produced by Bandai's subsidiary, Banpresto. They are made of hard plastic (polystyrene ?, unlike the MSiA which feature a lot of PVC) and have decent articulation and usually great gimmicks for toys their size (e.g., the F91 has an opening faceplate, shoulder fins that extend, moveable and extendable beam cannons; the RX-78 has a removable and transforming core fighter). They are painted with a flat finish like models. I think they're great! I just wish they were more readily available here in the US.

I recently found the SCM GP-03S and Hyaku Shiki set. Just won them on eBay. I'll write more about them after they arrive. ga.sbcr.jp/g-toys/banpresto/060914am/02/index.htmlI've been looking forward to a GP-03S that's not made of PVC (like MSiA or GFF).

I received the set of SCM GP-03S and Hyaku Shiki. The GP-03S stands approx. 12.5 cm tall and is made mostly of ABS plastic except for most of the joints. The head and hands are PVC. It is nicely articulated (22 points of articulation for poses; additional points of movement for the backpack, skirt). It comes with a shield, beam rifle, an extra pair of hands, and 2 beam sabers. The hilts can be removed and stored in the backpack--nice feature. Unlike my HGUC kit, the figure does not have functioning claw arms (that extend from the forearms). The paint job isn't the greatest, but this can be easily remedied with a Gundam marker. Overall, a decent figure. The Hyaku Shiki stands approx. 12 cm tall (if you don't count the fins on his backpack--which add an add'l. 2 cm to the overall height). Again, nearly all ABS plastic except for the joints, head, hands, and hip which are PVC and some other material (PA?). The head has 2 points of articulation. Overall, about 23 points of articulation on the body itself--not including the skirt armor, backpack. It is fully painted even with kanji characters on each shoulder. The fins on the backpack are movable. Also the hilts on the rear skirt armor are removable and can be fitted with beams. A beam rifle and bazooka and an extra pair of hands are included. No competition for my Hyaku Shiki chogokin but decent and larger than the HCM Pro version. Here's a recent listing of this nice set: cgi.ebay.com/Gundam-figure-Set-of-2-by-Banpresto-GP03S-NEW-Hyahu_W0QQitemZ150135328120QQihZ005QQcategoryZ747QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItemWould love to see a Super HCM Pro GP-03S with a removable core fighter like the MG kit. Bandai, are you listening?

More pix of the upcoming SCM's courtesy of GA Graphic: The Zakus: ga.sbcr.jp/mprize/007760/The Gundams (reality model edition): ga.sbcr.jp/mprize/007759/These SCM's seem to feature better paint jobs and more detailing than prior ones. At the same time, they seem to lack some of the gimmicks that made the earlier ones so special -- like the F91 with its opening faceplate, movable cannons, extending fins, etc.

Wait, so are those Zaku's from Gubdam 00 also?
By the way, Zephyrantes, your dedication to SCM's admirable!

Chet, I figured this would be THE place for Gundam fans to learn about what collectibles are out there besides the readily available and popular stuff. These UFO Crane prizes are harder-to-find and interesting collectibles. The Zakus appear to be from the original series. In the pix, you can see the tampo printing and weathering. Nice touches for an inexpensive toy line. Too bad that Banpresto removed the nice gimmicks that were once characteristic for this line (like the transforming core fighter in the RX-78). Oh well. Guess Bandai figured it didn't want this line to compete too much with the smaller HCM Pro series.

How can they directly "compete" with any of Bandai's action figure lines when they're not really supposed to be "sold" anywhere? ;D
Then again, they ARE sold at retail sporadically here in the Philippines. That's how I lucked out with my RX-79 (G)! It took every ounce of self-discipline to resist buying the G3 Gundam.

The RX-79 G is a very hard-to-find SCM. Do you like it? What's it like? Is it worth tracking down?
I just have the RX-78, RX-78 Okawara colors (green), G-Fighter, F-91, Hyaku Shiki, and GP-03S. My favorite is the F-91.
I occasionally run across some online sellers offering the SCM's that aren't supposed to be sold. That's the internet for you--you can find nearly anything whether it's supposed to be sold or not.

The RX-79 G is a very hard-to-find SCM. Do you like it? What's it like? Is it worth tracking down? It's still sealed up. Got it because it looked like it may be in scale with GFF's. Bought it fairly recently actually, probably in the last 12 months or so. Might have been reissued. Nowadays its the F91 that's being sold at retail locally.

I believe that these SCM's are 1/144 scale, bigger than MSiA and HCM Pro. I agree--around GFF scale.
