Thanks MMJ and Parrothead. OK, I'll look into the RD Exia. Yeah, I really wanted that 8th MS Team one with the big backpack, but I could never find it. I got lucky tracking down the GP03 years ago--maybe eBay, can't recall now. It's cool because there are no other real toys of this one. I don't think I have any of the SCM Ex figures.
OK, I'll skip the Zeta SCM. I already have the chogokin Zeta anyway along with the HCM Pro and old HCM versions so the SCM is not so vital.

You've gotta at least get the EX RX-78-2. That is one bad mama jama. I just ordered the GFFMC RX-78-2 from Gundam the Origin with loads of detail, diecast, and great articulation. It even features a detachable core fighter so I'm not sure I need the SCM EX RX-78. If I'm going to get yet another RX-78, it's gotta be pretty good. I'm curious though about what makes the SCM EX RX-78-2 so nice. Is it the articulation? I'd love to hear more about the SCM EX series since I don't have any. Thanks, Parrothead.

Yes you must get one it's simply amazing in bothe sculpt and design. The articulation was eons before it's time and paved the way for many of bandais schematics for seveal of their figures especially for it's price point 1500 ¥. It's 1/144 scale and made entirely out of ABS plastic but has some heft to it. The design is very stylized and dynamic and posing?? Are you kidding me!! It's off the charts! He can do so many things other figures can only dream of without the use of a stand! The only down fall are the accessories as they are made out of bendy PVC and paint app is a bit blahh! They are also very durable so they have a high play ility factor, however u can chip the paint on them. Overall they are just fun as he'll figures to mess around with I have several in fact at least five rx two gms two goufs 2 zakus. The two ex before that (zeta and shiki) are not so good as they have loose joints and some restriction in the hip joints but are pretty stylized and so far cooler then any other version released thus far. I'll try and post a link to all the cool poses u can do but google some in the meantime!

I was drawn to the stylized look of the RX. It has a distinctive look that I haven't seen anywhere else. The Gray one is really cool also. I got the GM when I got the RX and am just as impressed. The Johnny Ridden Zaku is pure baddassery. The EX's are just really cool looking toys, for not much more than we used to pay for MSIA's. I can't believe they are really crane prizes.

Too bad they end up so overpriced on eBay. I saw pix of the Johnny Ridden Zaku -- looks great. I'll keep an eye out for these EX figures.

Nice. I like that MSV RX-78 SCM EX. Now to find one at a somewhat reasonable price.

Got a few RXs a week ago, and have taken one apart just to see how it's engineered for such great articulation. And it's actually quite simple. The upper torso is made of 3 parts: Front chest part has two sockets inside that accepts the ball part of the left and right back parts, which swivels independently to give additional range of movement to the arms. The shoulders in turn are plugged into the 2 swiveling back parts. Then a swivel connection for the lower torso allowing the upper torso to move forward and back. Same goes for the hip joints, a unique ball and socket system that allows free range motion for the legs. Arms are double jointed at the elbow, and legs are double jointed at the knees. Feets have a simple but brilliant ball and socket connector. Combine all these and you get a high articulation figure capable of those crazy poses. Anyway, put the RX back together to start on a project I've been planning for quite some time. Converting the RX to my all time favorite super robot - VOLTES V.

I saw one for 108 I may go for it since it's all three and getting no luck with proxy service....... Bahhh and gun cannon is out as well. Btw I got SCM 3 of f91 and zeta. While they are behind the ex series they were definitely eons above the figures of their time especially f91 since no other figure existed odpf it at the time however it's not better than the rd version you can get though I do prefer the matte finish on it. As for zeta much better than misa zetas and possibly better then the chogokin (may habe to revisit one) as far as articulation goes but still I'd advise looking for the ex one if ur gonna get one.

Congrats on getting the F91 and the Zeta. I thought about getting the Zeta but passed on it due the relatively high price.

Did you know that there is also a "Die-casting Creative Series" (D.C.S)? Looks like in 2006, Banpresto released a RX-78 Char's version and a Hyaku-shiki for this line. I'm guessing they feature die-cast metal by the title, but I've never seen one to be certain. The RX-78 looks like a repaint of the one from the Action Gokin diecast line also by Banpresto though the elbow joints are different. Anyone have this?

Is anyone still looking for these figures? I got a few in a lot, and I want to make some shelf room. This is what I have:
SCM Ex RX-78-2 Gundam (Basic version, no box when received-- bought it used) SCM Ex RX-78-1 Prototype (Displayed for under a month and a half-- all parts and box) SCM Ex RX-78-2 Realtype Colors (Displayed for under a month and a half-- all parts and box) SCM Ex Guncannon (Panel lined, and the forearm on the right was glued in, so it cannot swivel-- the wrists can still swivel, though. It wasn't mentioned when I purchased it)
I also have a SCM Ex Gouf but it came to me in crappy condition. It had the box, but when I pulled the figure out the arm fell off. I was not amused. No idea how to fix it, so I'm using putty to hold it up. I can toss this guy in to sweeten the pot if anyone wants to buy the lot)
