This looks like the Asian import release. It has different packaging along with a higher price tag. I got the domestic (US) release for about half the price. I think the domestic one is identical to the Asian version except for the packaging.

Is this thing soft like an MSIA or hard like the AE gundam?

Yes, some time ago some guy at a convention showed me one Sazabi like that one. Really cool toy, I wish I had one....

Hard plastic like the rest of the DX (10-12") Gundams and the Arch Enemy Gundams.

Well, I went ahead and bought it. I've been needing a big sazabi to go with my MG nu gundam (didn't want the MG sazabi because of its katokified slim proportions.) This seems to be closer to 1/72 than 1/100, but it should be ok. I hope it lives up to its reputation.

Is it possible to find one of those domestic versions now?

Are you sure its closer to 1/72? I was just watching Char Counter Attack today and he [Char] seems to fit into that red ball in the head, with lots of room to spare. on the Sazabi's head. On the DX it seems that ball couldn't even squeeze fit a 1/100 figure
Although when you compare the Nu Gundam to it it seems like the right size.

How tall is it? It seemed to be about 1 foot tall. At 1 foot tall, it would be 1/76 scale, according to my calculations. Still, this is a case where being extra large doesnt hurt all that much. It's the same sort of deal as displaying the MIA zeta gundam with the hguc The-O.

I just measured mine. The DX Sazabi is just over 11" tall. It is just a bit shorter than a PG Zaku II. I've never seen the anime, but I understand the Sazabi is supposed to be huge. The DX will tower over a 1/100 mobile suit, but it is slightly smaller than a 1/60. But don't sweat the imaginary arithmetic. You're gonna' love this thing. JWM

I own the Sazabi DX (import), and I have to tell you, its my favorite DX by far. I first saw it in this small import store in Chinatown San Francisco, in the window, a year later I finally found mine!!!!big, red, detailed, cool, it stands out in all the good ways. Probably one of my favorite figures.

I love those DX's, and I was glad that Bandai made the effort to construct a Sazabi figure BEFORE they decided to halt the DX line. We can only hope that Bandai will resurrect this line in the future. Will they ever go forward some day with that DX Mega Sized Freedom Gundam from Seed. I believe that they did make a prototype (I saw a picture of it on the internet--hmm, was it CollectionDX?) so it must've been very close to production.

Cripes, that skirt armor falls off if you breathe on it. Oh well, still an awesome toy. It's kind of annoying that it's borderline impossible to display Sazabi figures/models with the shield facing forward and have it look right, but with the detail on the rear of the shield and the beam sabre hilt able to be stored there, it's rather cool looking with the arms in a natural position. It wasn't too fun putting together those funnels.
Man, it's so impressive that they managed to put together a dx with better proportions, size, articulation and materials than the MG for what would originally have been about half the price.
