I was just wondering what everyone uses to paint the eyes on their gundams. For my first couple, I just used my yellow gundam marker, and it looked pretty good, it has that "fresh from the anime look". On my MG freedom, I tried to make the eyes have a more clear yellow, to make it look like a real machine with "eye lense things" so I used a yellow sharpie on the clear plastic. Not as good of a result. It looks really good if there is light right in front of it, but otherwise, it just looks like the gundams turned off or something, because the eyes are all dark. I'll probably just crack out my yellow paint marker and fix that one soon. I was just wondering what everyone else did, and whether or not anyone goes for a clear look, or just a flat yellow/green/red. (pretty sure those are the only eye colors) ![:P](http://lemonstre.fr/robot-japan/smileys/tongue.png) Oh, and was anyone else who bought the MG RX-78-2 Version 1.5 really pissed off at the fact that they molded the beam part of the beam javelin in clear plastic instead of clear pink plastic. They got the beam sabers the right color, why didn't they do the same thing for the beam javelin. I still don't know how I'm gonna get that thing to look like a clear pink. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Hi, if you are gonna paint eyes clear, its good to paint the back of them, a silver colour, it will reflect light and make the eyes look alot better

I've thought about painting the backs of them, but some of them are large chunks of clear plastic and others are kinda hollow (if I remember correctly, Freedom was one of them). I just painted yellow on the back of them, that looked really bad. ![:-/](http://lemonstre.fr/robot-japan/smileys/undecided.png) I didn't think about puting something reflective back there. What would you suggest for clear looking paint. The yellow Sharpie works okay, but its hard to get a even, consistant color with a fine tip marker. Oh, and I also forgot to ask how everyone paints the little pilots that come with Master and Perfect Grades that go in the cockpits. Once again, I just used fine tip Sharpies. (I bought a 24 color pack of fine tips) ;D They turned out pretty good though, I was really happy with how well I did the little Kiras in the Freedom and Strike, too bad the cockpits are too dark to see all the details I added. ![:P](http://lemonstre.fr/robot-japan/smileys/tongue.png)

hey there I just got a set of metallic two end set of markers by Rose art at my local wally world. I didn't what my Freedom G to have amber eyes but blue or green. found these and Damn are the nice. a little muted in color but nice looking. I've always cut out the color part for the eye's stickers and stuck them on with a ball end stylus works better that way. but if you want to paint the eye's go with the silver backing or white and paint a clear over it. or light it from the inside . but in my IHO cut the eyes out and stick them to the eyes part. my two cents clifton

in my 1/144's i generally paint them gold or silver for the fed mobile suits. The metallic gives off a shine. Zeon mono eyes get a silver or white back with a clear red front. In my MGs, I generally do the silver back with clear colour (yellow, green, blue, red) front. If Im lazy, Ill use gold or silver on the front. ![:)](http://lemonstre.fr/robot-japan/smileys/smiley.png)

When you say silver back, do you mean the back of the plastic near the center of the head, or do you mean you just paint the eyes silver, then paint over the silver with a clear color? Sorry if I sound stupid. ![???](http://lemonstre.fr/robot-japan/smileys/huh.png) Incase I do decide to do it that way to look better, what would be the best way to remove gundam marker paint without hurting the plastic?

when you paint it silver, you paint the back plastic eye pieces, so that the rest of the eye is clear and light goes in and reflects back from the metalic parts, then you paint the clear parts of the eye with a clear colour paint, i use tamiya acrylic clears for this, hope this doesnt sound confusing ![;)](http://lemonstre.fr/robot-japan/smileys/wink.png) good luck

No, its not too confusing, thats what I figured you were talking about in the first place. I just wasn't sure if it would work, so I was confirming that I understood you properly. I'll probably try that on my MG Nu Gundam, and if it looks good, I'll probably do it to my others as well, I'll just have to figure out how to get the old paint off without ruining the clear plastic.

I tried colouring the back of the eyes before but it's always dark dispite having silver.
So i coloured my Gundam eyes in a whole different way and i thought I would just share it here. Well not exactly colouring.
Everyone knows about the gold chrome coin chocolates? Well yes it's chocolate shaped like coins and they have these gold aluminium as it's wrapping.
I use the alumimium and press it against the eyes to make indents and then envelop the visible portion of the eyes. Once seeing the eye's indents, you can colour black portion where necessary.
It really gives a very nice shiny effect without much hassle and mess. And it has that glowing effect at night around dim lights.

Does anyone know how the fluoresant green and pink gundam markers turn out? I didn't know if they are clear, or just really bright solid colors. I also have a feeling that if they were clear, they would turn out streaky. Any first-hand experience would be appreciated.
