It's now official: Bandai has discontinued production of Gundams for the US market. I think we've all suspected as much with the toy shelves of Targets and Toys R Us becoming bereft of our once plentiful MSiA's and 7.5" and 12" and Arch Enemy Gundams. Once more Gundams for those in the US will become import items. ![:(](http://lemonstre.fr/robot-japan/smileys/sad.png)

And thats super for Bandai in Japan, because they'll still profit from us wanting import. It kinda works both ways for Bandai. No more unstable sales in the US Bandai market for Gundam, more profit for Bandai Japan.

WTF?!?!?!?!?! that SUCKS! i blame those horrible burnt "Battle Damaged" Gundams...those were an idea straight from the pit of hell, who dumb-a$$ came up with those? and the SD cartoon...sucked! i did enjoy the THREE heads tall SD Gundams(instead of the TWO heads tall SD japan gundams, but i was hoping for some more Musha gundams...and with GOLD paint, not YELLOW)

SD was a mistake in itself. It ruined the Gundam image here in the US. The Battle Damaged line was a cool idea, but not for toy-store America. Should've stayed online or something. Its more of a collectors thing (they make for great dioramas). I think the downfall of Gundam here is the fact that the shows aren't on and when they are, the audience Bandai tried to get was asleep at 9pm.

i didn't know there was still a show on for a long time, then accidently found it late one saturday nite. i like the extra pieces (Like Dragon Gundams fire blasts) and stuff with the burnt gundams, and they would make for great dioramas, but i know parents that would not buy a toy for their kid that looked like their kid already used fire-crackers on it. the SD gundam, i have always liked the toy. but that USA cartoon just annoyed me. Why was the Cartoon put on so late? was it too violent? or just not of high interest in premarket?

Gundam first aired here in the US in 1999 0r 2000 with Gundam Wing. From there we got Endless Waltz as Gundam Wing's movie. After that, they noticed that fans still wanted giant robo, so they gave us MSG, which didn't go over well with normal audiences since the animation wasn't anything like Wing. I remember when Toonami promised to "keep bringing on the giant robo series" and they had commericals for awhile that made Toonami look like its main thing was robots. Its gone downhill from there, however Adult Swim had 08th MS Team, 0083, 0080 and tried SEED for awhile. We know how that ended though.

...wait...does this mean we will never get Z-gundam? or ZZ-Gundam that they promised last year? i REALLY was hoping to see toys of those lines!, since all my glue-together model kits are so fragile

Bringing in SD Gundam was a mistake. Satire is only funny when you know what is being satirized. We in the US don't have the point of reference of a long history of televised Gundam series like they have in Japan. You can't do a send-up of new material. Cartoon Network dropped Toonami. Maybe the American audience just doesn't have the patience to stay with long, involved plot lines. Who knows? One thing for sure: if Gundam stuff is no longer imported, then Domestic (US) Gundam stuff becomes more collectible ($valuable$). That's not entirely a bad thing. JWM

JWM hmmm....true....and i have some for sale stuff. but then again, my Zoids i tried to sell after the cartoon went off, never moved. i am hoping we get Zoids Genesis and that sparks interest in ALL zoids so i can get rid of the ziods i once woshipped. the Z-Builders are ...to me...much better, i prefer poseability to gimic (walking) anyday.

Yeah, I hope the Gundams I already have become more collectible after they again become readily unavailable. As far a Z Gundam, it looks like the best you can hope for now is the Ltd Edition DVD Boxed Set (approx $120-$150). The individual discs have not and probably will not be released separately from what I know. It is a nice set though with a booklet and collectible mini (bottlecap) figures. One prob is that the original title and ending music didn't make it onto these domestic DVD's. A disappointment but not much you can do since this is the only legit domestic (US) release of Z Gundam out there.

No domestic (US) Z or ZZ Gundam toys will be released according to Bandai's press release. So you'll have to look for the imports such as the Extended MSiA Zeta and a host of MSiA toys from the Zeta series including the transforming Asshimar. These are likely being released in association with the premiere of the Zeta Gundam movie (I believe a condensation of the 80's series) in Japan. If you don't already have it, the ZZ chogokin is highly recommended.

OK... They do have language tracks in Japanese though, right? :\ And Bandai jumping off the market would explain the sale prices on whatever's left @ Toysrus.com @ amazon... 10~20 bucks for these master grade things are pretty schweet. I think. Yeah, I hope the Gundams I already have become more collectible after they again become readily unavailable. Yes. A Japanese language track (my personal preference) is available with English subtitles. ![:)](http://lemonstre.fr/robot-japan/smileys/smiley.png)
