It also reminds me of Mech Warrior. Man, good thing its not on my wish list. Its toooo much. BTW have you been to its website? There are videos of this thing walking & shooting targets. Here's the site: www.sakakibara-kikai.co.jp/products/other/LW.htm

Yeah, I've seen that... "mecha" it's not technically walking as far as I know, since it never lifts any of its feet off the ground... it just slides ones while locking the other... and it seems VERY slow if it weren't so slow it'd be cool to have one and drive it through town :-P

"lower the price if enough people place orders?" Um... actually, I think I'll hold out for one that transforms... I was never really into Destroids.

I wonder what the car insurance company will think when they see "giant robot" on the form.

The future of travelling and CITY DESTRUCTION!To me it looks like a cross between the Yamato Scopedog and that walker machine from Star Wars, but just the legs.If I were Bill Gates,I'd probably buy 3 of these.

Thanks for the link OJA. I thought this thing lifted its legs while walking, sliding them it's kind of dull. All the mecha toys I've seen walk by sliding their feet, so big deal. But it's kind of cool to imagine one in the future driving around in one of those mecha-things. Personally I'd love to drive around in a Kaempfer, haha. Imagine, you park the MS at a supermarket, then you click the alarm button..."beep beep". Haha.

U r welcome Ledezman. I wish the guy would put arms on this thing & then he would control it ala Daimos...

Thanks for the links. Kudos to the guy for actually producing this mech. Too bad it's not more practical--like being able to use it to lift heavy objects, mow your lawn, do repairs on your house, etc.

you know, if this keeps up there will be giant robots. they'll probably be used for construction purposes etc.

Sorta like Patlabor :-) And if that happens, then it'd be cool to either be 1) A construction worker 2) A cop (I wouldn't mind operating an ingram) :-P

Alright Robot Police! Crime rates will prolly go down when they see robots hunting them down with shotgun shells the size of trashcans!

Well, it's a start. At least someone is looking into the practicality and feasability of someday biulding large mechs. I still want one though. It would take me a couple hours to walk it to work but I'd be stylin all the way!

P.S. sounds like an internal combustion engine running it, wonder what the mileage is.

yeah, maybe it's one of those 2HP lawnmower engines, haha. Speaking of which....I think that is one of the first issues scientists and technicians have to solve before making great mechas -the power source. It has to be powerful, clean (hopefully) and small enough to fit in the body of a robot. Maybe some kind of "fusion reactor" or something like that. Well, who knows, maybe they'll exist in the future.

Well, there are LOTS of other issues... like the mechanics for the mecha to walk, and the software which would keed the balance (bipedal walk being the most difficult). You'd also have to think safety measures... a 60 mt tall mecha falling wouldn't be very safe... plus a "normal" fall would probably wreck the mecha. We're talking about a VERY BIG metal thing... think about your car for example... you can just get a bump or a scratch in everyday use... now think about a giant mecha, which has several times the mass and volume of your car... even it it were made by a very strong kind of metal, just falling on his back would wreck it... And collateral damage... 60 mt tall mecha = very heavy... if it were to wak in a normal street, the pavement would tear like it was paper... It'd be cool... but unpractical in any way you look at it. A more reasonable use would be space use... WITHOUT legs and head that is... just a spaceship with a couple of manipulators...

Yeah, there are a lot of issues. Well, I think Gundams aren't that tall, correct me if I'm wrong but most Gundams are in the 18-20 meter range don't them? Anyway it's still a big piece of machinery, no doubt about it. I know this topic is becoming geeky and unrealistic sorry...haha, but I agree Gundams or Mobile Suits are more "feasable" for space use, basically because of the lack of Earth's gravity. A MS can move more easily in the space, and doesn't need the ultra-powerful thrusters you'd need to overcome Earth's gravity while flying or making those wacky maneuvers you see in the animes. I agree with Bleen above, a MS will be cool but utterly impractical. But well, who knows what kinds of crazy stuff will exist in the future anyway.
