Has anyone else read Tomino's novelization of the Gundam series? The novelization was recently re-released as a compilation of the 3 shorter stories. It's a great read for Gundam fans as it provides a more mature and significantly different presentation of the Gundam world. Sure, the RX-78 (along with the G3 and Guncannons) and the Zakus are there, but the characters are better fleshed out and travel different paths than in the anime. For example, Amuro starts out as military pilot--not as a civilian. I won't give any spoilers here as incentive to check out this worthwhile book. Warning: It's not intended for young children. ![;)](http://lemonstre.fr/robot-japan/smileys/wink.png)

Wow, that sounds interesting. I have the three movie edition of Mobile Suit Gundam. The story has its faults, but overall I was very impressed. I expected a robot- rockem- sockem with lots of things blowing up and not much more. It's actually an epic with some very well-drawn characters, and surprising depth. I'll be interested to see it in novel form. JWM
