I've been looking at getting some of the Gundam X models because I just finished watching the series and liked the design of the mobile suits. I was wondering if anyone around here has any of the 1/100 HG kits and what they thought of them. I was also wondering if the Gundam Double X that is included with the G-Falcon unit is identical to the Gundam Double X that is sold by itself. I obviously wouldn't want to buy the Double X by itself if it was already included with the G-Falcon.
On a related note, has anyone noticed how the wings and shoulder cannons of the Freedom Gundam look nearly identical to Double X's when it's firing its satellite cannon? Someone commented on Freedom's wings being derived from the WZC, but I think they were taken from the Double X. They unfold differently, but when firing, their similarities are quite blatant.

I have the HG 1/100 Gundam X. It's a good enough kit, and if you like doing panel lines, you'll be in hog heaven. The joints on mine ended up being sloppy to the point where it was hard to pose the thing- that was a problem. I learned to glue all polycap joints after building that one.. JWM

Meh. Don't glue your joints, just tighten them. I take a heated exacto knife and make the polycap pegs a little thicker. Works great for mine. If you're concerned about ruining the polycap with too much heat, just tighen up the slot where the polycap would go.

Gluing doesn't fix the joint in a set position. I put a drop of liquid cement on the peg, or ball if it's a ball and socket joint and go ahead and assemble the piece. The glue doesn't stick to the polycap. After it's set you bend the joint, it pops free and stays nice and firm. It doesn't leave it solid and unbendable. JWM

i normally only get the 1/100 scale kits, but the 1/144 scale in this series are actually very nice.

Yah - I went nuts with Gundam Marker on my X too (and I must say it looks hella better now than before). I didn't have trouble with the leg joints at all - but I need to complain about that Satellite Cannon system... the kit's panels don't actually unfold perfectly due to the design of the "backpack"... I just can't get them all straight. But that's just a minor quibble on a fantastic kit.

I got several of the 1/144 scale kits and one 1/100 scale kit--the Airmaster. The 1/144 kits were fun to build, but the 1/100 Airmaster's quality was somewhat lacking. It did look pretty good after painting though.
