Not how many variations of RX-78 have been invented, I mean how many different marketed versions, as in RX-78 is somewhere in the name, and with either a different box or figure or size or variation have ever been made, ever! Anyone have a clue?

you mean EVERY variation of RX-78-2 evermade or just the RX-78 series? You'd have to check at some kind of official site if you want a list like that.

If we just talk about the variation of RX78-2 itself, I presume there will be three major and officially recognised variations:
1) Kunio Okawara's version 2) Katoki Hajime's version 3) Kendo Senshi's version

Well, I was more curious if anybody knew how many actual releases of the figure have been put out over the years. My guess would be around 300.

As far as the Kado (Kido) Senshi's go, there are: The standard red/white/blue/yellow anime version, the Titan's version, Char's red one, Kunio Okawara's coloration version, and the all-white roll-out version.

There was also a Kado Senshi RX-78 G3 in gray.
