Approx. $100 USD for a non-transforming plastic figure before shipping. Seems a bit steep. Looks nice though. i'd rather wait for a revoltech since its so expensive and only plastic.

But it looks so freakin' cool and a Revoltech won't be anywhere near as big... It's kinda like back when I asked why people collected those jumbo vinyl Ultraman figures. And those things don't even pose at all! I'm definitely getting one but I'll be sure to shop around for a decent price... :/

It IS freakin cool! Although I'm still on the fence about it, but considering how good the construction and materials were on the Queadluun Rau, I think we've got a winner with these Destroids... and just think about it, if ever this line is successful, the "Coffee Table" won't be too far off.

Bending the rules a little (because I know this link is technically a web-store) but Amiami has posted several new photos on their "review" pages. Amiami shop reviewIs that Max in the cockpit? As for coffee-table... I hate to say it, but I think Yamato will stop short from that one. Yamato has a history of sticking with scales that "make sense." Look how successful the 1/48 scale VF-1 was... and then suddenly when they decided to redo the Macross Plus mecha, they switched back to the 1/60 scale. I have the funny feeling they'll do a coffee-table, but it'll be more like side-table than coffee-table...

Yamato has a history of sticking with scales that "make sense." So regardless of scale, that still means we get a Monster... that makes me happy. ;D

way too much for what it is. it looks nice though.
I have that feeling that this one will be very difficult for US buyers to get ahold of. Retailers have been shy about ordering Destroids and any non-valk Macrossfor decades, as most of the original toys and model kits from the 80's & 90's didn't sell at all.

At approximately 8 inches, and plastic, it IS a little steep for US$100. So far, the only gimmicks are the opening hatches, the itty-bitty pilot figure, and a couple of ground crews.
Unless Yamato has a surprise up their sleeves (like spring loaded missles, LED's, etc-which is unlikely). I'll wait for reviews, or wait for someone to sell theirs-cheap.

yes I have to agree that the price is way to high... but if they threw in like support & maintenance vehicles as well as crew into it then that would justify it. I wish they've done a Takatoku gimmick where all the armor plating can be removed and expose the endo-skeleton.

more gimmicks on this non-transformable toy would make it more desirable.

Given the expected release, I'm guessing those photos are prototype. Even so, it looks great. Now that we know we can expect more than just a one-off release, I'm definitely going to consider saving up some cash for the Tomahawk. Speaking of which, has anyone purchased (and received the Tomahawk yet; it was released a couple of weeks ago)? How's the size? Often people forget that the VF-1 Valkyrie was a relatively small mecha and that the Destroids were huge. So at 1/60, I expect Tomahawk to be roughly the height of the Q-Rau... does it live up?

The new 1/60 Valks are 25cm tall in Battroid mode while the Destroid is 20cm and the new Defender is 17.5cm so there quite a bit smaller although I don't know if that corresponds with the spec from the shows or not.

I dunno what made me think that. Now that I look it up, the Destroids are supposed to be as tall or even shorter than the Battroid mode VF-1... Maybe it's the bulky shape compared the sleek-slim silhouettes of the Battroid. I just always thought they were meant to be big mecha. Huh. I'm still going to get them anyway.

New coloway.... I like the army green. I do not like the red windows. That makes no sense. Just because from a design standpoint the color works, but from a realistic standpoint you just gave the enemy a big red X on where to focus their fire. www.collectiondx.com/node/3107

I like the OD color myself and the red window....but you have an interesting point that I over looked about the "big red X".

Does anyone know if Yamato plans on releasing a non-transformable Monster?
