They don't look too bad. I wonder if they pose well. I can't really tell by the picture that collection DX has listed if its a nice quality item or not.

I have several of these. There is plenty of diecast so they're fairly heavy for their size. They feature decent poseability with some ball joints. E.g., the RX-78 has an articulated head, shoulders, elbows, wrists (sort of), hips (not abdomen), knees, and ankles. The diecast is typically in the chest and feet. The rest is PVC. They are painted but not with much detailing. No real gimmicks except for the diecast and maybe a few weapons. The first set of these featured the mechs from the original series: RX-78 with rifle and missile launcher and shield, Green Zaku with heat axe, Char's Red Zaku, and a pewter finish RX-78 with a flatbed truck. The second set features mechs from the Zeta Gundam series: Zeta Gundam (non-transforming), RX-178 (Titans and AEUG), Rick Dias (Black and Red). The Rick Dias is VERY heavy.

I forgot to mention that the legs are also diecast adding to the heft of these figures.

Thanks Zeph. Are they worth the $18 bucks a pop? From your description, i'm thinking of something comparable to a HG model with a lot of diecast? Let me know if i'm wrong.
thanks again, qball

They are smaller than HG models. Approximately MSIA-sized.

They are small but satisfyingly heavy. They are produced by Banpresto, a subsidiary of Bandai that specializes in making game (UFO Catcher, Crane) prize toys. As I wrote in another thread, Banpresto has on occasion created some surprisingly good toys (not just gashapon stuff). A terrific example is the Perfect Transformation Victory Gundam -- I really love this incredible diecast/ABS piece of art that really transforms. Anyway, back to the Action Gokin, I paid more than $18 a pop at a local comic store when they first came out a few years back. I was attracted to the diecast content. These are not SOC quality by any means though--as in sparse details for these gokins. But if you love lots of diecast in a relatively small figure....

I opened up the RX-78 Action Gokin that I have today. Its torso is entirely diecast. The lower legs are also diecast. The upper legs and feet are PVC as are the shoulders, arms, hands and head. It comes with a spare hand to hold the missile launcher and also has a shield and beam rifle. No beam sabers but the handles are painted features of the backpack (also PVC). The articulation is decent for the upper extremities but rather poor for the legs.
